This season seems to be borrowing a fair bit from the Man Without Fear mini, with DD's initial costume being the one from that mini and it dealing with Kingpin's rise to power. How much do you think it should follow that origin story vs. the story from the Silver Age? Though it seems like they are combing elements from both origins, considering Owl is appearing and he was DD's first major villain.

It should follow the original as much or as little as is necessary to make it work in THIS context/universe. The same thing is true with TWS, or DOFP, or TKDR, etc. These are ADAPTATIONS, that doesn't mean "follow the comics word for word and point for point purely for nostalgia's sake). I'm pretty sure that they'll take the basic outline premise of Miller's work, but build their own story out of it.

My prediction is that Season 1 ends with Fisk killing The Owl, or The Owl getting taken down in some way at least (arrested, dies, flees the country, something) and Fisk truly becoming the "Kingpin" or NYC.

That'd be interesting. It's funny, when I watched the clip with Fisk at NYCC, he really struck me as being like Gus Fring from Breaking Bad. So it[d be funny if this season actually played out more like Season 4 of Breaking Bad with Fisk in the Walter White role!

But really, I'm thinking it's more likely we'll see Fisk already established as The Kingpin as the show begins, with The Owl as a rival crime boss rather than being his superior. Just the way they've been talking about Fisk in the official blurbs we've got thus far, talking about him having plans for redevelopment of Hell's Kitchen and the like... it seems like The Kingpin would turn to stuff like that once he was comfortable in his position at the head of the underworld and was wanting to expand his empire, not when he was still trying to rise through the ranks.

Well that's why I said, I wonder if they they combine elements from the Silver Age/Daredevil Yellow story with Man Without Fear, considering neither Owl or Karen Page were in Man Without Fear, but did appear in the original Silver Age DD stories.

I wonder if they will give some of the more sinister elements that Kingpin displayed in that mini series to Owl, I would say Kingpin was too evil in that mini series, crossing lines that would obliterate any sort of sympathy we are supposed to have for Kingpin. It seems like this series wants Kingpin to be somewhat sympathetic. Or maybe they will drop the more controversial elements from that mini altogether.

Yeah, I created this thread pretty much to talk about this phenomena (although, to be fair, it's an interesting topic without my shameless links too).

The only thing I disagree with is how that video says that this kid is the only person in the world who can do this. Daniel Kish, who I linked there is another example.

yes it is...he is. Sadly Ben life was cut short in 09 when the cancer that took his eyes, returned and eventually took his life. Sad.

Looking at the cast list for Daredevil, it seems there is a strong Russian presence in the show. Does Daredevil have any Russian villains or Russia related storylines?

The Russian is president of Daredevil Man Without Fear Fan Club of Smolensk!

But he is Punisher villain.

Also I did some research on other actors. Geoffrey Cantor is listed as "Ellison" and appears in at least 4 episodes according to IMDB, so I did some lurking.
