Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 4

Brilliant for Marvel to showcase this on Netflix. Network Tv would have never done this justice. This has met all my expectations so far and I am still watching as I speak.

The first episode was hands down the best superhero TV premiere yet. Charlie Cox IS Daredevil and I love the whole Catholic vigilante vibe of his characterization. Also like the street-level treatment of the fallout of The Avengers leveling New York with evil profiteers swooping in to capitalize.

Only got a chance to watch about the first 15 minutes before I had to go to work (saw everything up to the point where Kingpin's right hand man is threatening that guy in the park) but I have to say, this is the best superhero show I've seen. I know I probably shouldn't make that assessment until I've watched at least ONE full episode, but it really is the truth. This felt more like a movie than a TV series, or more like one of those "Golden Age of Television" series (Breaking Bad, The Wire, Game of Thrones) than typical superhero fare (Arrow, The Flash, Agents of SHIELD, etc.). Now I just hope this day flies by so I can go home and watch the rest of it!

Yeah I only saw the first 10 minutes before I went to bed (at work right now) and man it's already hooked me in.

I will leave work in 20 minutes, and i'll be home in 1 hour and a half.... I'm so excited! and I just can't hide it!

Good lord...

I don't even like Marvel studios or the MCU that much. I prefer Fox and DC anyday. I like something to chew on, something with character and real depth and meaning...

That said, Daredevil is the best tv show I've EVER seen. It's instantly become my favorite tv show. And also arguably the best comic character adapted to screen. Every scene is 100% daredevil. I could not be happier with this. I am completely blown away.

Thank you marvel studios for finally giving a guy like me something worthwhile!

Also, just have to say, that title sequence at the beginning of the episode is AWESOME.

It's stunning. Not as good as GoT's but definitely in the same league of excellent intros. The bleed-on effect is spot on for the material.

The music, or theme of the opening sucks though. Overly generic. Needed something darker and more memorable. One of the things the 03 DD just nailed was the score.

TV series. A lot of TV shows simply don't have memorable themes or scores. Also, a lot of modern comic book movies do not have memorable themes either. Case in point, the Iron Man films. The Thor films. Incredible Hulk.

LOL, I don't even remember the score from the 03 film. All I remember is

HOOOOOOOW CANNNNN YOU SEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE INTOOOOOO MY EYEEEEES LIKE OPEN DOOOOOOOOOOOOORRRRRRSSSSSS WHIIIIIIIINE WHIIIIINE SUULLLLLLLK...

LOL, it took me a minute to realize what you meant. I was like, "You really want to see Daredevil in a CW show?!"

Im sure he will show up... I said it before CW will be huge expect LOTs of characters in that one... I think Charlie Cox said he wouldnt mind just being in the back sayings a few things either? pretty sure I read that somewhere

Yeah, it's possible. There was also a rumor that Daredevil would be one of the new Avengers featured in Infinity War. I'm sure he'll appear somewhere in a film.

Today feels like Christmas Day. My social media feed is just packed with everyone watching Daredevil at their own pace and talking about it, and I'm in hog-heaven just going about my day... do a little something, watch another episode, do something else, another episode. Each episode is like unwrapping another gift, pure joy.

Why hasn't anybody put the opening online yet? :argh: I'm at work and can't watch any episodes, but I'd love to see the opening at least.

Thanks for posting that is awesome. I am going to start it tonight, but I broke down and watched the opening you just posted along with a video of Daredevil in his red costume in the costume thread. I am so weak that I can't resist. Glad I did though as seeing it in film has restored my faith after seeing the motion poster which really did not do it justice at all.

Frankly with the exceptions of the old Hulk TV show, Batman's 60's show, Spider-man's 60's cartoon, Williams's Superman score and Elfman's Batman score there really aren't any other superhero shows or movies with memorable musical themes. Perhaps the opening march of Avengers is also easily identifiable but that's about it(though it's not very hum-able). Scores today have jettisoned the simple but effective motifs for complexity and complexity isn't easily memorable. The most memorable scores are fairly simple.

Is there any way to gauge how popular the show is?

Will Netflix release the number of viewers the series has?
