Daredevil Daredevil General Discussion Thread - Part 8

I'd rather not do Born Again just yet. I get the obvious temptation. The problem is that story centers heavily on Matt's life falling apart. Let's have him actually get his act together first. Matt losing his law firm and license doesn't have as much impact right now.

Yeah, you can wait on doing that type of story if need be. You might want to build Murdock back up a little more before tearing his life apart.

I think it needs to be several seasons in for it to work effectively. At this point, barely anyone is even coming to his law firm apart from the odd few clients. If he had to quit being a lawyer and publically become a superhero, it wouldn't be a great loss at this point.

Also, if you wanted to have Karen Paige spiral out of control that she becomes so dependent on drugs that she sells Matt's identity, that has to be built up as well. She's just starting her new role as reporter.

Even with Civil War, I didn't quite feel that Tony and Steve's friendship had been built up enough. They were more like work colleagues. If they had just had one movie where they became really good friends - even like a buddy team up movie with the two of them - that would've cemented things more.

If they're doing Born Again, I suspect Kingpin will find out Matt's identity through other means.

I would like for Gordon Ramsay to have a cameo in the next season.

Well I feel like they've already set the seeds for Born Again so they can't wait to long with it, but since he's pretty miserable right now season 3 is probably a bit early. Maybe the season after that.

We still need to establish Bullseye as well. I won't be OK if they keep Bullseye off as well.

More than anything I just want an amazing Bullseye for season 3.

For Daredevil, here's who I would consider his major villains:

Kingpin
Bullseye
Typhoid Mary
The Hand
The Owl
Stilt-Man
Black Tarantula
White Tiger

Depending on execution, Typhoid Mary could be an interesting story for Daredevil.

I don't know if they count as major, but I would like to see Mr Fear and Jester. Even for an episode or two.

I want Gladiator and Deathstalker.

DD also fought Mr Hyde, but I don't really want to see him fighting Kyle Maclachlan from AOS.

I would love to see Mr. Fear. I'd consider him a major villain with significant story arcs by Joe Kelly and by Ed Brubaker. He's also another lawyer so it would create an interesting interplay with Matt Murdock as well.

Typhoid Mary sounds interesting. Too much has already been featured rhe Hand.

the other villains, could they be effectively translated to screen? especially names like Stilt-Man and Black Tarantula?

I wonder how many seasons they are hoping for with DD. Could we see up to 5 or might we have 10 seasons of it.

I see. I haven't read those issues yet. I wanna read everything in order so I'm waiting for Marvel's Epic line to fill in the gaps between Miller and Smith basically. Might take a while :oldrazz:

Mr Fear is my favorite DD villain, and I'd love to see him portrayed onscreen. I'd like more "costumed" villains in this show. I want to see Daredevil conquer more villains before he gets torn down. Bring on Fear and the Owl.

Isn't the Owl dead in the series? Leyland Owlsley was killed off at the end of season 1.

Owlsley mentioned his son multiple times on the show. Leland jr. could easily become the Owl if the writers want to go that route.

Steven DeKnight said that Season One was intended to set up the real Owl for a future season, so I think he's fair game. Fear is just a great and sadly underutilized character. After the stuff he's done to Matt, he SHOULD be second only to Kingpin and Bullseye on Matt's list of archenemies, but he's hardly mentioned or used. I think the show runners would do a terrific job with him.

sounds like there is plenty of good gems in the seasons to come.

Main problem would be, it'd come off as *really* weird, style-wise, for the Kingpin to be fighting somebody whose using knock-off Vulture gear. Even if the budget works, the story would be bizarre. I could only see it if a season were specifically about "super criminals vs super villains", with the badass-but-conventional crimelord types ( led and epitomized by Fisk ) dealing with conflict from "freak of the week" type villains using gadgets and powers to overthrow the old order. The oddity being the whole point, thus.

As for Mr Fear, I think his problem is that, sadly, he comes off a bit too much as a Scarecrow clone, without enough to really make him his own character. Which is kind of ironic, given there's a Marvel villain actually *called* the Scarecrow, who is very much his own distinct character.

Does this show get any better? I dont think I have completed watching the first season. Been a while lol

If you didn't like the beginning of the first season, then you won't think it gets better, no.

Oh no no. From what I remembered i did enjoy season one and honestly I cant think of how it ended. I heard mix things about season 2.

You should watch Iron Fist instead.

My friend said it isnt that good. She said both Daredevil and Jessica Jones are on par being really good and interesting.
