Daredevil Daredevil Official Reviews Thread

What exactly has Faraci said?

He's been ragging on the show for the best part of a year now, criticising everything about the show - the casting, the apparent Miller influence, the costume, the tone of the trailers - and saying he thinks it'll suck. Then a couple of days ago he said he's been hearing "very bad buzz" about the show from the review episodes sent out. Now that people are questioning him on that giving the outpouring of rave reviews today, he's basically calling them idiots and pooh-poohing the credibility of the reviewers who've praised the show thus far.

Zac Thompson said it's a 9/10. He said the 2 out of 5 was a mistake.

Haven't really been following what he's said on it. Interesting. Just assumed he'd eat it up since he loves Marvel so much (but probably complain about the costume).

There's only one person with questionable credibility talking about Daredevil right now.

Also just to be clear. I'm not crazy about the costume either. However at the same time, the show is building up to that.

This is basically Daredevil year one. He doesn't even have the billy clubs yet. However, part of the opening definitely put aside a lot of my problems. You just kind of got to accept this is season 1. Marvel is establishing Daredevil and his world and how he fits into the bigger MCU.

Create a bad buzz for him? He is the Miley Cyrus from Twitter? :woot:

I think he was trying to look like Billy Badass entertainment scooper on Twitter by getting ahead of it.

He's saying people told him it was bad, but I wonder if that's even true.

Can't believe Village Voice was positive. What a historic day. April Fools perhaps?

Really glad to see the show getting positive buzz. I liked Agent Carter a lot, but still have yet to see a superhero adaptation on TV I'm really into.

Glad to here this is going down well, wasnt too nervous as it always looked good, but you never know but is sounding like it will live up to my high expectations.

LOL. Faraci's "bad buzz" is going to be my favorite punchline for quite some time to come. :funny:

Only potential worry about the one guy thus far who's indicated his review will be negative is that he writes for the AV Club. If he also happens to be the guy tasked with reviewing the show episode-by-episode he could do a lot to create that "bad buzz," as with TV in particular AV Club has established itself as something of a trendsetter which other sites will follow in dictating what culture dictates as good or not. Not a big deal, obviously, but it is a niggle.

I feel like early buzz has been and gone though now, I dunno maybe it's just me but I take a look at the first batch of reviews and then that's it i take the consensus from them. So I've looked at todays, but the next ones I won't bother with, sites are already reporting the great buzz from the early reviews they probably won't then run with some bad reviews we might get later.

Village Voice likes this?!?

I'm pretty damn sure they gave negative reviews to Avengers and Winter Soldier
Actually, they quite liked TWS. But yeah, they certainly aren't the biggest Marvel fans in general, so it's nice to see they liked this.

Like the Frank Miller work honors, Daredevil is ahead of its time. It’s the most mature comic book series to-date, rivaling the quality of Marvel Studios’ best feature films. It raises the bar for all other shows to come—and not just comic book derivatives. Daredevil is a series that strikes the perfect harmony between engrossing tale and high-stakes adventure, daring everyone to join it for the next era of serialized storytelling.

Not sure what I love more... The fact that this show is getting rave reviews or Faraci looking like a total asshat.

We'll call it a draw!

The glowing reviews got me thinking.

''Is it really that awesome?''

Waiting to be blown away.

I'd have to say Faraci looking like an asshat I hate that guy and it's great to see a character I love being treated right I tried to watch the movie today and couldn't get though a half hour of it.

I was one of the first calling him out on his "bad buzz" remark, but I think it's time for the Daredevil fans to let go. Faraci will do what Faraci will do, he is the kind of guy that will go out of his way to prove he is "right", and by that, if he hates something, he does his best to make his followers and friends feel the same.

Let the series and the overwhelming positive reviews speak for the quality of the series. I think it's obvious that this is going to end up one of my favorite things Marvel related this year, maybe one of my favorite things Marvel related in years. Good times. :woot:

My friend, not everyone will like Daredevil, but I sincerely don't think there is any reason to be worried. I feel that Daredevil got a KILLER of an adaptation on Netflix, and I'm hoping to see this becoming the first Netflix show that becomes an off season movie feature eventually. I feel that the quality that they are going with this deserves the big screen. Let's see Marvel and Netflix redefine the whole format with Daredevil and the Defenders. :woot:

@TaraDBennett
Have a @Daredevil feature w @stevendeknight coming in @totalfilm & I'm thrilled to report the show is fantastic! Cast, aesthetic, writing A+

:woot:

TotalFilm reporter seems to have nothing but praise for Daredevil as well. :woot:

I'll be keen to see Total Film's review, if they have one. I'm also interested to hear the response of their rival publication, Empire, who have traditionally been amongst my most respected review sources. Though they tend to focus on film and don't really review TV unless it comes out on DVD, so we may not hear anything from them.

I'm kind of weary with Empire. Their WB connection makes me not trust them. And when people say that they are impartial, I keep remembering them that they gave a 10/10 for Superman Returns.

I'm so glad that this show is getting great reviews! I was a bit wary because of f***ing Jeph Loeb being attached to the show, but it looks like everything panned out. Let's hope Jessica Jones, Luke Cage, Iron Fist & Defenders follow in DD's path.

Also, hoping for DD Season 2 next year instead of after Defenders.

I've railed against Loeb a good bit for the decisions that he made regarding the animation department. However, I think it may be time to give credit where credit is due. The quality that is being produced at Marvel TV is pretty outstanding. AoS could easily be argued as a top 10 show, it's run since midway last season has been fantastic. Agent Carter was tremendous fun with a great cast. Now Daredevil looks to possibly be the best thing Marvel has produced period. Loeb has assembled a pretty amazing creative staff to shepherd all of these projects and it is paying off in spades.
