Daredevil reboot: official discussion thread

surprised people are more positive about David Slade because when he was one of the possible directors up for Wolverine sequel they were trashing the guy mostly because he directed a twilight movie.

I think much of the hostility this project is facing is based on the this new movie still being at the same company that somehow managed to produced two turds from Frank Miller's creative gold. Which is actually completely understandable. With Marvel Studios there's always the safety net where they have a reputation for staying true to the things that matter in the comics while producing entertaining movies. You just don't get either of those at Fox.

As for David Slade... I loved 30 DAYS OF NIGHT, and haven't seen his other work. I'm optimistic about his appointment. I imagine he'll bring someone in to rewrite Scarpa's script, maybe Brian Nelson who wrote HARD CANDY and has a credit on 30 DAYS.

And don't forget awful movies like X3, XO:Wolerine, FF, FF:ROTSS, GR...

Fox has proven in the past that they have no idea how to make this movies...

The Dd director's cut is waaaaaaaaay better than The Incredible Hulk and Iron-Man 2, and is at least as good as Iron-Man, no Marvel produced movie has bettered it so far, imo of course.
and it's better than Ang's Hulk, all of the Blade trilogy, and the Punisher movies.

and given the resume of the guy who made the last DD, he was obviously served very well by the Miller material as his Ghost Rider movie was awful. so, a better director like David Slade could do wonders with the material.

I'm just so happy that this a sequel. I wonder if Michael Clark Duncan will be back?

Agreed. Daredevil's director's cut is far away better than all the two Punisher's movie, Ghost Rider, Elektra, Blade: Trinity and the two Fantastic 4's movies. I think DD's movie is like X-Men: Last Stand, X-Men Origins: Wolverine Iron Man 2, Spider-Man 3: disappointing for some reasons but still watchable and fun (but I hate X-Men 3, seriously).

If they're smart they make this a sequel to the first one set years later with Kingpin out of the jar, seek for vengeance. This can be a good start for the Born Again's storyline.

At least it will be good if all the whole cast come back, but I seriously think's not. Affleck is clearly not returning, also Favreau surely's not come back.

I liked 30 Days of Night, but he directed Twilight??? lmao, sparkling Matt Murdock? jk

I really don't have hope for this. This is still the same old FOX after all.

now that would be interesting.

Patrick Wilson has impressed me in every role i've seen him in, starting with Hard Candy, and continuing through Watchmen and The A-Team, were he played a great villain. With Watchmen under his belt, we know he can do super-hero faire, so I think he would be great as Matt Murdock.

Didn't like 30 Days of Night. Haven't seen anything else of his because of that. Not interested.

No it's not. It's good, it's an improvement over the theatrical release, but that's about it.

So awesome that their finally doing this! DD is my favorite Marvel hero so I'm glad he is getting another chance :D

I think the theatrical cut of DD is better than IM2 and TIH, and I enjoyed both of those movies. Im1 is better than the theatrical cut of DD though, but I would say IM1 and DD Dc are about equal in terms of filmaking and cb adaptation.
All down to personal opinion of course.

But, what it goes to show is, that if a filmaker has the power to fight against Fox's restricting stipulations, (Bryan Singer with X2, Ben Affleck with DD, he fought to keep some aspects they did not want, like the red costume), then the movies have as much chance at creative success as any done at Marvel. As in fact, Marvel can be just as bad with the stipulations, leading to creative compromise...TIH was cut down from what the director and lead actor wanted(just as DD was, and TIH has not even had a director's cut released on dvd yet), and IM2 was rushed out in two years, where the director wanted three to do the film justice, but they did not want it overcrowding with Cap and Thor. And most people agree the second film was not as good as the first.

and it looks like Fox are not being as bad with the sh films nowadays, hiring DA for Wolverine, and giving the A-Team a large budget and longer running time.

FOX will loose the rights to DD if they dont make a movie in specific years.so this will be made out to keep the rights.

IMO Slade is not a bad choice. DD needs to be R rated.

whats your favorite dd suit design?

i like the color of the suit in the 2003 version. but it was to glossy. a more matte material would work better. the character is a lot of times in the dark so you need to light him with small lightsources from every direction.

I would love to see a new daredevil movie and maybe lets have a ginger matt murdock which would be nice!

So this is apparently going to be a SEQUEL and not a reboot/remake?

WHA?!

I agree about him either being a natural red head/ or at least a better, more natural looking dye job...

but, I don't know if I'd necessarily say ginger...
other then the red hair, Matt never really appeared to have ginger like characteristics

I really liked the first movies suit, I hope they keep it similar.

People who think David Slade sucks because he directed Twilight need to give their ****ing head a shake.

It's like hearing a non-fan say a particular director is bad because they directed a superhero movies.

Because there are people out there that don't hold the genre in as high regard as we do.

They also have freckles on their faces, which kind of give them a 'biscuit-face' effect. I am kind of a red head myself, my mammy says I'm auburn, but I escaped the biscuit face effect genetically, Nothing wrong with having a face like a biscuit, but I have enough going on with my face that having a face like a biscuit into the bargain would probably send me over the edge, so everytime I sit down to my tea and have a biscuit I count my biscuits and I count my blessings.
