Fox Searchlight has released five videos from The Wrestler press conference at the New York Film Festival. A lot of it was covered in our extensive three-part interview with Aronofksy last month (you can read there here, here, and here) but there are some juicy bits that make these worth watching. Plus, its fun to hear Mickey talk about his preparation for the film. Check the videos out after the jump.
That's the result of a couple of cosmetic surgery operations gone bad.is it really so hard to fix hes face? in the 80's they made M jackson look likea women. and now they can not make him look normal again?
i know that. but is hes face just gona fell apart in the next years? That's the result of a couple of cosmetic surgery operations gone bad.
after the sure Oscar nomination for the Wrestler, I don't think he'll have problems finding roles.i know that. but is hes face just gona fell apart in the next years?
there has to be something to fix. it works for this movie. but who would hire him for a normal role?
Two Video Clips from The Wrestler

/Film reader Nick O. forwarded me these clips from Darren Aronofsky’s The Wrestler. The first clip shows a scene between Mickey Rourke and Evan Rachel Wood, who play’s Randy’s estranged daughter. Rourke has been getting Best Actor Award Nomination buzz since the film premiered in Venice.
The second clip gives you a little taste of the wrestling action. Randy “The Ram” Robinson takes on The Ayatollah (Ernest “The Cat” Miller) in a 20th anniversary rematch of their “epic” match at WrestleSalm IV in 1988. Imagine if The Iron Sheik and Macho Man were reduced to doing a rematch of the wrestling match that was the pinnacle of their career, but at a small independent fan fest show in front of only a couple hundred people. As you can imagine, both wrestlers aren’t exactly on the top of their game. The footage was taken from an international television review of The Wrestler, so there is Spanish commentary over the entire clip, which of course isn’t in the actual film.
The Wrestler hits theaters on December 19th 2008.
Well Rourke also boxed so his face took a ton of damage. I also read a report that he has some sort of disease that effects his face.

At first glance, The Wrestler sounds like the kind of movie Michael Lerner's 1940s studio executive in Barton Fink would've made. But don't worry this is nothing like a Wallace Beery wrestling picture. Darren Aronofsky's first film since 2006's time-travel head trip The Fountain, The Wrestler stars Mickey Rourke as a washed-up '80s relic seeking redemption. Sounds like art imitating life? You bet. Rourke even boxed professionally for several years in the early '90s.
I like combat sport, boxing, wrestling, etc., but ah Mickey Rourke a wrestler? Isn't he like 5ft'8inches and a buck 60 weight> right? and in his mid 50's, right? Naw that's not him in the picture above..Why not Hulk Hogan for this film? BUT MICKY ROURKE? naw I'll pass..LOL!

Fox Searchlight has released three new production photos from Darren Aronofskys The Wrestler. The first of which features Oscar hopeful Mickey Rourke as Randy The Ram Robinson jumping off the top rope at a small independent wrestling event. Below we see Aronofsky on set, and judging by his beard (which he traditionally grows out throughout production) the photo was likely taken during the middle of production. And the third photo below shows Marisa Tomei as Cassidy, Randys stripper friend, who as you can see looks a lot different outside of the strip club.
