Darthphere Presents: Chivalry is Dead. So what?

Opening doors also opens you up for the herd effect where there's 12 doors but everyone wants to walk through the one you're holding open and you end up just standing there like a fool as 20 people go through without thanking you.

Hahah , that actually happened to me in a hotel.

One thing I don't like about people holding doors for me is when I'm a good distance away. I feel obligated to do a brisk walk or slight jog to catch it .

you fought for the right to vote.....and you can pick up your half of the check

Same here, although I'll admit I get upset when they don't hold the door, like the one to the front of my building, and it shuts right as I get to it making it so that I have to get my key to open it.

so never?
buuuuuurrrrrrrnnnnnnnnnnnnnn

*high five*

I remember having a conversation like this once with my family. I said something like, "Equality means dealing with the bad stuff, too."

Tv Tropes calls this one "The Unfair Sex."

So you wanna give up the right to vote so you don't have to pay for your meals?

With the way politics is today, that might be a fair trade. :o

Well I mean, -I- didn't fight for my right to vote. Some dead broads did.

I think it's a fair trade.:cwink:

Although I'm a cynical a**hole, I must admit. I follow a certain code. It sounds silly but it's the only thing I have in this world that truly means something to me. I modeled my code after Bushido and Musashi's The Way Of Walking Alone.

Honor, loyalty, humility, independence, etc. are virtues I take incredibly seriously.

I just looked her up and fell in love. She's absolutely right. I want to pay for everything but if the girl has no values , I won't waste my time.

I had the same reaction.

So, back off! I saw her first!:cmad:

I paid for dinner once, but it was more of a triple date sort of situation, only I wasn't dating the girl. I only liked her and was out at an Olive Garden with her friends, both of whom had boyfriends. The other two guys paid for their girlfriends, so I paid for my plate and the girl's plate. Looking back, I regret it because I only did it to impress her and I wasn't really obligated to do so.

I told a girl she was pretty not too long ago, and she looked at me in disgust like I wanted in her pants, when I just told her an accurate compliment. It was weird. My friend even thought it was strange.

Everyone's a stalker these days, don't you know?

Going back to the OP, I'd be kinda miffed myself. First self proclaiming your strength of independence, and then using a chicken-**** deflection tactic like texting to pretend you don't notice the check? Yeah, that's really weak and a total turnoff.

I raced a girl to the printer/fax at work today.

Chivalry is dead, I trampled over it's corpse to send a pd1a...

I like you for this.

when do basic manners cross over and become chivalrous? people seem to have different ideas of which is which (moreso in lifetime convos than on here)

and for the record, i don't want any guy putting his jacket down so i can step over a puddle. for one, it'll ruin your jacket.
