Dawn of the Planet of the Apes

Scott Z Burns who's script may or may not be used talks how he was influenced by Full Metal Jacket, and Burns confirmed that this was being planned.
"Yeah it had a bit of that. It also, it really explored the notion of peaceful coexistence and compromise versus extremism and conflict and that kind of inherent issue and how you get along with the other."

However, with a new writer hired shortly after Matt Reeves (Cloverfield) signed on to direct, we'll probably see some alterations to the initial storyline.
"I had a great time working on Apes," said Burns. "I love science fiction and I think that it's, in contrast to [Side Effects], an awesome opportunity to do social commentary in a really fun way. Rupert Wyatt and I worked on a script that I loved and I had a great time doing that. Then Rupert and the studio parted ways and, as sometimes happens, when the director leaves the studio through the front door, the writer is frequently thrown out the second story window,. When they brought in a new director, they brought in a new writer. So I don't know how much of what they did they will still be using, because what we did was really fun and I was really happy with the work we were doing."

I was bored, and have had this on my mind for a while, so I finally killed some time and made it.

That's pretty awesome mate.

If I could make one change for the sequel then I'd have the apes the sizes they should be, just to make it that much closer to real life.

Were the sizes really that off?

Well chimps are usually around 4ft tall, Franco is around 5"11, when Caesar is standing with him at the end their heights are near enough level, so yeah, I'd say the sizes were quite drastically off. Of course this was purpose by the director so hopefully the new director will bring them closer to reality.

Caesar is shorter than a sedan, around 4 feet. I don't really know what you're talking about on that.

Actually I just watched that end clip again, and you're right, Caesar's height is way off in that scene. The rest of the movie was okay on that front though I'd say.

Back when he first film was coming out they spoke about Casear and his differences frm normal chimps. His face is different as well as his height, and they said they did that to make hime look more inbetween a chimp and a human.

The deal is that he is nowhere near that tall throughout the other scenes of the film and its not even a matter of his growth. He's about the same size as the other chimps when they're in captivity.

He is a bit bigger than the other chimpsnbut when he is with the chimps he is squatted down whereas at the end he is standing straighter and more assertive. Ill give you there is a discrepancy but some of it I chalk up to how he stands at different times. And really there was no other way to get that shot and I dont think many noticed or thought about it. I didnt until it was mentioned here.

Franco was already on the ground. If they wanted the shot of them looking face to face, he didn't have to get up all the way.

Slashfilm has a new quote from Serkis indicating that filming will start in a few months.

Andy Serkis said:
I had a very good meeting with a certain director today and we had a very exciting conversation about where the story’s going. I think it’s gonna be an amazing film, really incredible. We’re gonna be shooting in the second quarter of this year, probably. It’s really shaping up. We’re going to be into it fairly soon.

^Cant wait to start hearing more, Reeves is a very good director, and he knows how to do character, just watch Let Me In.

He's also really good at making the situations in his films look like they actually happened, (i.e. -- Cloverfield and what I've seen of Let Me In), which I'm very interested in seeing for this film.

I think Reeves' buddy JJ will pick him to direct Star Trek 3.

To me that doesnt hold the same power nor emotion. If Franco is on his knees it is like he is stooping for Caesar's sake. In that moment you want Caesar standing toe to toe and eye to eye with the human. Thats just my opinion tho.

That would be an awesome choice.

He's great with VFX, action, spectacle and characters, so he would be a perfect fit. That's also probably why he was chosen to direct this film.

Finally some news on this.It comes out memorial day weekend 2014.

Intresting they will have a dual focus In this film.

as for Matt Reeves doing followup to Star Trek Into Darkness I would rather have next star Trek director actully have some passion for Star Trek.If he does great. If not I would want someone else.
