This films isn't really Guillermo's style anyways.

But it would look magnificent under Guillermo Nevarro's lensing. The man knows his way around lights and filters...

Everything is Del Toro's style apparently. He's been attached to every goddamn franchise in existence.

Pretty damn good list, I say Reeves has a better shot at it.

LOTR, HP, Narnia, et al.. Not to mention he's been a creative consultant for quite a few Dreamworks Animation films these days.

I think Matt Reeves will be Fox's first choice. They signed him for a TV deal after his Twilight Zone deal fell apart... they'll probably offer him the Apes gig and let him do his next film at the studio after that.

At terry78,

Lol no doubt. I do wish WB could have gotten him for Half-Blood Prince like they wanted. They courted him for Prisoner of Azkaban also and he suggested Alfonso Cuaron instead of himself. Imagine If the Harry Potter franchise had gotten both Alfonso and Guillermo!

This franchise is a big deal for Fox, they'll find some yes man to take it.

Ratner- do you need me to shine your shoes? Laugh at your jokes? Congratulate you on everything? I'm the guy. The ultimate brown noser

Shining shoes and laughing at jokes is the most brown-nosing thing you can think of in regards to Ratner? ****, that guy would probably give you a reach-around just for a Producer credit. :o

While not everyone can be like a JJ Abrams, Nolan, or Del Toro, I think many can strive to be like a Matt Reeves. He's like the perfect balance between a studio director and a creative type who can craft honestly made genre movies with integrity. Unlike Len Wiseman or Paul WS Anderson.

Neither is Pacific Rim. GDT previous movies were fantasy based .

Edit :
Personally even though studios would consider GDT , i doubt he'd accept helming the movie.
TO make the release date , he would basically finish work on Pacific RIm and immediatly start shooting the Apes sequel.Plus Pacifim RIm is the biggest project that GDT is making .

Rian Johnson should do it. he needs a 100% sure hit so that he can make his next scifi movie.

I don't think he'll do Dawn if there's major time restraints. We shall see..There's too many projects on his plate right now and I would rather have him do those stuff first as a priority.

Plus, we need more ORIGINAL American del Toro films. So far, he's done Blade 2, and the two Hellboy movies so it's nice to see him doing Pac Rim.*

*I know that At the Mountain of Madness is a book too, but it's so unconventional that I see it a POTENTIAL piece of ambitious filmmaking if it ever gets made.

why did you put JJ next to Nolan and Del Toro? :yay:

well, I should of added Joss to the group too, since I think JJ and Joss run parallel.

THe person who will helm the apes sequel will be someone who isn't currently attached to a major project.
The basically need to start work asap to meet the release date.

Yeah, and I think Del Toro likes to take his time, which is his style. Then again, he wanted to do a Harry Potter movie too and those films' schedules can be brutal so what do I know.

Times change.
People can get better as years pass by. If you look at Matthew Vaughn hhe backed out of the 3rd X-men movie due to time constraints yet the X-Men FC production was just as gruelling. He really worked under immense pressure and delivered one heck of a movie .

With Potter WB couldn't afford to wait too long otherwise the actors would grow too old for the roles. In the books they make the transition from kids to young adults which is also what we were seeing in the movies.

With Pacific Rim though he got the creative freedom and time to work on the movie but WB also wisely started work early on knowing that they still had TDRK coming out in 2012.

Matt Reeves seems the most likely, and I would be delighted with that, loved Cloverfield and loved Let Me In even more.

Cloverfield was cool but Let Me In was poor in comparison to the original masterpiece. So towards Matt Reeves I'm torn.

I found Let Me In to be superior in every way to the original

in every way superior = no subtitles
?

just joking ;)
