I can see how the themes of The Day the Earth Stood Still can be adapted for modern times but I still find the notion of Keanu Reeves as an omnipitent, all knowing, higher being to be a bit far fetched.

i don't know, he did it pretty well in the matrix sequels.

he's always acted a bit... off in his roles, anyway, (not that i mind, i like keanu) but now he has an excuse.

exactly, that is one movie that could use an update. sure, it's a good film, and a great concept, but it's such an obvious product of it's time, it just doesn't hold up well at all today.

Of course it could use an update. The original is a huge, obvious cold war metaphor. It could work when applied to modern times.

Eh. I don't see what was wrong with the anti-violence theme. It's still pretty damn relevant, especially today.

oh wow... that sounds pretty damn epic.

though they shouldnt have ruined his message in the teaser... some people actually havent seen the original.

i hope theres not only destroying...but that the earth 'stands still' like in the original... we depend more on electronics now so that would be funny to see, lmao

im guessing also that he might've been living inside the earth, seeing as how he's "earths friend"
would be an interesting twist.

I hope the film is good, the original was a classic for its time and i enjoyed it alot.
