Actually now that I look at it, I'm 90% sure that's not his real account.

Chris Claremont's comments on X-Men: Days of Future Past:

"The challenge, I would think, for Bryan is that the heart of the original story is not the fight with the Brotherhood back in the present day. The challenge, the story, is actually what happens in the future. Getting them to the point where you can send Kitty back, and seeing the consequences of what will happen if they fail, and not knowing at the end how it's going to turn out. You think it's going to be a happy ending, but you're not sure, because pretty much everybody dies — in the comic, anyway. You can't not be invested. That's pretty much most of my working life, dancing around or through the X-Men as a concept."

"You could look at it as time travel, or you could look at it as pan-dimension. It's all a matter of how you want to define it, and I'm sure they've got some brainiacs out on the left coast earning a small research stipend figuring out a plausible way of making it fly. That's the fun and games of Hollywood. How the hell they're going to fit it into 120 minutes, I have no sodding idea. I'd be looking on this as your basic 1974 film with an intermission."

"In movies it's a one-shot item too often. If we're doing Days of Future Past, we need Ororo, we need Logan. OK, we've got Hugh Jackman, but that means we've got to get Halle Berry. I'm sure some accountant at Fox is going, 'Huh? 'We're talking how much?' On the other hand, you never know when a major talent is willing to do a Scarlett Johansson, and come in perhaps at scale, just for the fun of it. The really nice thing with Future Past is that you actually have a superhero film — much to everyone's surprise, I will hope — that is about something. It's about racism, I hope. It's about resisting oppression. It's about fighting for freedom and the cost of fighting for freedom. I will be fascinated to see how they weave the two together."

So basically this film is going to be the redemption of X3 and a sequel to First Class.

Interesting how Chris Claremont said that having Logan and Ororo are essential for telling this film properly. I also thought it was funny that he acknowledged that some FOX accountant is probably having a heart attack considering Halle Berry's price tag. :p I wonder what he thinks of Bryan's interpretation of Storm?

No matter what you think of his 2000's work on X-Titles I consider his work from 1975 to 1991 quentessal X-men.He helped create a lot of characters we know today.

Stan Lee and Jack Kirby created X-Men but It was him working first with Dave Cockrum and later John Byrne that made X-Men what It was as best selling marvel comic for years.

Case In point.Magneto before Claremont was just a one dimensional want to take over world villain.Claremont brought depth to Magneto.

I find a bit sad that Bryan hasnt called Chris to read the script or as a creative consultant

It feels almost like the opposite of X3. Like back in 2005/2006 I was extremely excited for them to adapt one of the most famous X-men stories, but during production everything fell apart a little at a time. Instead of the constant bad news of X3, I keep on getting surprised by the good news for this movie. Hopefully one day someone will give the Dark Phoenix Saga another chance.

The news for this movie just keeps getting better and better. What an amazing cast line up.

and this is just with casting news

Imagine how all of us will be once we see the teaser trailer! lol

It will be CRAZYYY :D

Yeah, its fake. I guess that moves the chances of Grammer returning from not happening to slim.

If they do this right most the Future X Men should die so I really have no problem adding more there for battle and deaths. I just dont want the film makers getting scared and not following through with that.

Wow! Those Claremont quotes are amazing!

Hopefully, the thing Bryan is trying to fix is how they mishandled Dark Phoenix .. if changing the events in a post X3 world somehow places them right after X2 in DoFP, I would fully be behind the idea. Maybe have a hint of Phoenix rising then end DoFP there, leading to the next movie being based on their unused X3 treatment.

Everyone will be alive and well and we will finally get a true Dark Phoenix saga adaptation. I think enough time has passed, and even so, Phoenix saga is one of the best storyline, this route should redeem it.

The big question is whether they would re-do the Dark Phoenix.

Yeah....

They're not going to try and redo Dark Phoenix. Like it or not, that story is told (whether it remains canon or not) - they won't retread old ground and do another film based around it. Not with a wealth of big stories still not touched.

The ship has sadly sailed and Ratner was the captain.

I hope so, I want at least another three movies before we go back into Phoenix territory. Especially if its the same cast.
