OK just saw S/B Apocalypse and......

F**** AWESOME!!!!!!

It's as good or better than Public Enemies.

I can't compare it to New Frontier, Crisis on 2 Earths or Under the Red Hood because it's totally different.

Darkseid's voice was the only thing I wasn't crazy about.

BUT....the FIGHT SCENES!!!! Bruce Timm and co. has mastered the superhero fight choreography!!

This is a MUST SEE for ALL DC fans!!!

If you like all the 8 films WP DC Animated has released...then you will LOVE this movie.

SPOILERS:

Supes vs. Darkseid and Kara vs. Darkseid!!!!! HOLY Sh****!!!!! AWESOME!!!! Kills all the Darkseid vs. Supes in Superman/JL/JLU animated series!!!

It never explain why Krypto was mad at Kara AND why is KARA "potentially" more powerful than Supes????

Just saw this movie and I gotta say... that review seems intent on provoking a reaction. :whatever:

This movie was fantastic from top to bottom... and I feel most of the credit has to go to it's producer/director Lauren Montgomery. I'm sure she brought the soft, emotional and feminine touch that this movie needed...

The Story: Minus the inner monologues, a revamped ending and extraction of some silly comic book story-telling escapes... this is pretty much Jeph Loeb's tale panel for panel.

I do believe the movie is MUCH better than the graphic novel and layered with beautiful character moments. The small touches make a difference.

The Animation: I believe MOI animation did this movie and they truly did a phenomenal job... The background, the fight scenes :wow: the beautiful atmosphere that they were able to achive was astonishing.

Yes the character designs don't always work, with sadly Bats and Supes fairing the worse with those LIPS. However it's a minor nitpick and they did Michael Turner proud.

The Voice Cast: Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, Susan Eisneberg and Ed Asner... Need I say more?? (Susan has gotten a much stronger control over her voice these days it seems, and Daly also seems to be settling back into it). Kevin just NAILED it as always :woot:

LOVED Summer Glau as Kara/Supergirl. She brought so much nuance to her performance.

Sadly, Andre Braugher fell flat as Darkseid... he was never menacing or commanding enough. The only flaw in an otherwise GREAT cast by Andrea Romano.

Other Notes: A movie with great atmosphere, effective if lacking score and wonderful emotion... The running time felt fine to me. So apart from some design flaws, Andre Braugher and a number of nitpicks... I would give Superman/Batman: Apocalypse a 7/10

Once again, my biggest praise is for... Lauren Montgomery!!

I pretty much agree with all of your points. I'd never read the comic so

Darkseid being in the house at the end and the fights that ensue afterward

were awesome moments.

I'm gonna wait patiently, as I always do, for this movie. Will get it first day release on Blu Ray. Good to hear people like it a lot. :D DC hasn't really let me down in the Animated department.

It never explain why Krypto was mad at Kara AND why is KARA "potentially" more powerful than Supes????

i don't know about why Krypto was mad, but Batman said she was potentially stronger because her molecular structure was denser than Supes.

i LOVED this....i will be buying FIRST DAY. I IMMEDIATELY lost my **** the moment i saw
Harbinger.

I can't compare it to UtRH because its not a batman story, but DC you KEEP doing GREAT ANIMATED THINGS!!!! :awesome:

I saw the film, IMO I think Public Enemies was a much better adaptation on film.

I liked Apocalypse, very much but the the character designs of Michael Turner from "The Supergirl from Krypton" just didn't work well in animation.

I hated Darkseid's voice Braugher isn't even in the same league as Ironside.

also what's the deal with Krypto getting the \s/ on his cape, but not Superman or Supergirl ?

I really wished they'd include the inner monologues of Batman & Superman like in the comics.

The alumni voice cast - Kevin Conroy, Tim Daly, Susan Eisneberg and Ed Asner were awesome as always.

I loved all the fight sequences.

I'm a little upset that they didn't have the famous panel with Superman introducing Kara to all the DCU Heroes . But I understand why they didn't have it.

I for one liked it. Very faithful to the source material. WW and Barda were the major highlights for me, and this is probably my favorite looking WW. But all the fights were great and liked the changes they made.

I really tried to hold out and not watch this but...........I'm weak. As far as this being a Superman/Batman film it never really felt like they were a team. W/o the narration it was just a Superman do your thing and Batman do your thing kinda movie. That being said it is pretty much exactly like the comic. The scene where Supes & Diana visit Barda in the suburbs is straight out of the comic. It seemed a little silly though because how can a 6'6" women ,who looks like a supermodel, blend in and live a normal life? anyway some of the voice acting seemed lackluster especially Darkseid's. Even the stellar JLU'ers seemed off their games at times. There were times when the animation was awlful particuarly when the characters were walking. When you watch it you'll know what I'm talking about. People just don't move so wooden when they walk down the street.

That's all the small gripes I had. What did work was the storytelling. Like I said this was probably the best comic to video translation I've ever seen. There were times when you'll swear that Michael Turner had drawn some of the Kara sequences. All of the fight scenes were epic and the final battle was 10X better than the comic. I'd say it was better than the JLU one. This is the first true Darkseid we've seen (save for his voice).

I will definitely pick this up on Blu-Ray when it's released. I hope to see more of these in the future.

superman and wonder woman were the stars of this movie. i dont think superman has ever been shown to go ape like he does in this in televison/movies.
especially cool when he's superspeed punching darkseid while burning him with heatvision
he also doesn't have any wimp moments like he did in TAS or Justice League
other than maybe getting taken out too fast by Darkseid at the end and having Supergirl last longer, but one awesome part was when these kamikaze demons fly into him blowing up as he's walking into the palace, and after the explosion he just comes walking out like nothing happend.

this was also the best wonderwoman has ever looked. way better than anything before. her fighting was also amazing, she definitely seemed to be the most powerful woman.

Batman did kind of bother me though, i dont really like this version
where if you didnt know any better you would swear he has superpowers as he can get thrown threw stone pillars and walls and survive. there was probably around 5 times where batman should have been dead. i prefer to keep him as powerful as a human should be. even the batarangs that are somehow as powerful as a punch from supes bother me though

anyway if you like superman and wonderwoman and batgod batman watch this

(and has anyone figured out why they didn't/couldnt get michael ironside back? it was annoying just because its one of those "what could have been" things)

Which is why its like Great Darkness. In that, Darkseid takes out Superman instantly only for Supergirl to pummell him until the Legion show up. I'm willing to bet that is where the inspiration for that new ending came from. In GD Supergirl beats him into orbit, we see her kick Darkseid so hard in this he's a speck on the skyline. See her flip him from behind? Holy moley, greatest Supergirl fight outside of a comic book for sure.

Superman Batman Absolute Power

3638_400x600.jpg

In "Absolute Power" (issues #14-18, illustrated by Carlos Pacheco), Lightning Lord, Saturn Queen and Cosmic King -- three supervillains from the 31st century -- eliminate members of the Justice League of America, except for young Superman and Batman, whom they raise as their own children. Batman and Superman are raised to be dictators of the world, eliminating all opposition and killing people who would otherwise be their friends. During a fight with Wonder Woman and the Freedom Fighters the timeline is thrown into chaos, and the two men travel through alternate timelines. Darkseid makes a deal with them in one reality to send them back through time to stop the supervillains who raised them from altering history. Superman and Batman restore history, but the murders they committed haunt them.

THis was okay. 6.5/10

Of course the voice work was good. I didnt really like Summer Glau as Supergirl. I actually thought Braugher was good as Darkseid

The character designs were bad. Especially Granny Goodness.

Action was very well done. THe WW & Barda fight was cool. The Smallville fight while cool didn't feel right to me. Probably just the setting of it.

PE was alot better

Thanks JonDoe!!!

Absoulte Power seems a little confusing though.

Is that Graphic Novel any good??

Hope Bruce Timm and Co. do it though...

They can never do wrong.

Even Gotham Knight is getting good MINUS the first story with those kids.

agreed.

i didn't like this that much; action was good but it was kind of boring overall to be honest.

the only badass scene was the encounter between batman and darkseid, which followed the comic closely.

Yeah but atleast Netflixing would have given some sort of Number to Warner Bros, you guys say you want more projects and such but when you DL these things you do nothing but hinder the possibility that we will get other ones. Different Ones.

like i said i just watched a stream not downloaded it. i'll still rate it on netflix. it's not like they send everyone their own unique copy. they will just have to go by the rating of the film. not by a community disc being sent to me.

Even if I watch it earlier than its released I will still buy it if I enjoy it which is nearly always the case.

Oh and keep forgetting to state that I love Aretmis in this.

OMG!!! DC Rocks!!! This movie was better than expected!!!! I can't believe that I've finally fallen for DC characters and the universe overall! All my life I've been reading Marvel comics, dreaming of the Avengers vs J League. Now If I were to happen on that fight, I'd be like "Ahh man! I think all of you guys are cool don't fight!!!" Anyway, I loved this movie, and I hope they stick with the original Justice League voice talent for future films. The JLU animated series has really grown close to my heart, and I really wish Timm would consider a sixth season of JLU. Heck Marvel has never had a hit Avengers show!!! This is a great time to be a comic fan, DC and Marvel are pushing out these direct to video animated films!!! I love it!!! Marvel vs DC who wins? Us fans!!!! :woot:

i actually thought that part was kind of lame
batman went through two stone walls and survived. maybe its just me and my buddies who don't like that stuff. we always say "dead" everytime batman should be killed in one of these shows/movies

superman had the most BA parts
