DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

Tab Murphy, writer of S/B Apocalypse talks Batman Year One @ the 2:35 mark! ;) :D Also, an interesting tidbit on a possible full length DCU animated original feature for Green Arrow!

Well, actually it's Superman, then Green Lantern, then Batman.

The Green Lantern movie won't even have Hal, Guy or Kyle. I don't really see the point.

They should do the Flash first.

Where did you hear that? As far as I know there's been no official word as far as who will be in it and anything else is just speculation.

i hope they don't decide to just start doing cgi films. i really like 2d animation. superhero stuff if good in 2d since it can mimic the art from the comic.

Andre Braugher was NOT a horrible Darkseid. He wasn't great, but damn he had his moments. As far being a dark and scary voice, he ****s on like........... EVERYBODY on the planet. Some of the lines were just ...not that interesting. Which is sorta how Darkseid operates anyway. Calm, calculated and such. He was kinda dry in the beginning. But his second act was effin amazing!
Him and Kevin Conroy going back and forth bringing to life the best scene in the book was priceless.
And he was outstanding on the
farm when fightin Supes and Supergirl.
The whole meeting sequence was delivered perfectly by both actors. I came away from that scene thinking ''Damn.......... I really wish I had some bass in my voice".

This flick also reaffirmed that Kevin Conroy IS BATMAN, and maybe..........just maybe............. The Christ child.:batman: There is NO other!:awesome:

Lauren Montgomery confirms she directed Green Lantern: Emerald Knights and it entails vignettes of well known and not so well known members of the Corps. Link: Q&A

Bruce Timm later reveals that it will be 5-6 individual stories and an overall story arc that ties them all together. He reveals 3 of the stories; Abin-Sur, Sinestro, and Kilowog. Kilowog's will be about his training backstory. Link: 2011 Movie Q&A

Gave out a little cheer when Murphy said that Year One might be the first rated R animated film that DC's doing. Man, if they keep all of that, it'll be so awesome.

Maybe people just got used to Ironside as Darkseid because he was awesome voicing him.

Wow,this was amazing,I loved every minute of it.

I liked how they really expanded on some parts that just blew by in the book.

The characterization was great,I loved Kara's snarky attitude and Wonder Woman was amazing in this.

The fight scenes are just glorious to behold,I remember seeing the shaky cam first used in JLU,but now they really got it down to a science.

The animation looked very stylish and sharp, they got Turner's style right.

Public Enemies was solid, but I thought Apocalypse was much better.

Oh yea by the way,the 11 minute Green Arrow short was brilliant.Give the man a full length feature now.

Unfortunately he didnt. Darkseid sounded lame. :csad:

Gotta disagree. He's not Ironside, but to say he was lame is unjust.

When he's not trying to sound menacing, he sounds like a normal intelligent man.

When he's mad; he's pretty intimidating:

You dare...YOU DARE!

That's just it...Darkseid isn't just a normal, intelligent man.

Exactly. He is evil incarnate but he sounded more like a lord or something. He should sound like he looks. I'm not saying that nobody but Ironside can voice him, but that voice actor just didnt work.

And yeah, nobody but Ironside can voice him. That voice is godly! Or should i say.... [BLACKOUT]New Godly! [/BLACKOUT]

anyone see the green arrow showcase yet? don't like the voice of green arrow, still sounds like bruce banner.

Well I gotta this has got to be one of the best DC animated features yet. Though one does wonder whether Wonder Woman oughta have her name credited among the main title despite it being a mouthful. And I thought Andre Braugher didn't do too bad a job either. But man epic battles like that are what's really needed on the silver screen!!!

I like these films to a point, I personally think dc would gain alot of momentum if they just had all these films worked into an ogoing series, and when it came around to year one, they would just make it a flash back episode(s)

I assume dc just makes more(immediate) money this way.

I really enjoyed this film alot. The fight scenes were pretty intense, and I like the few changes they did to the story.

The ending with the Kents showing up after the fight made me chuckle, especially when the house collapsed. I was hoping we could've seen Superman take Darkseid to the Source Wall instead of just shooting him randomly into space. I did like that instead of the trap for Darkseid, they actually had Kara fight him instead of immediately disappearing. It made for an even better fight scene. My only gripe, is the ending reveal. I was hoping it would've been in front of the JLA, JSA, Teen Titans, etc. So it could properly setup her place in the DCU. But like I said, minor gripe.

Overall, I'd say it's a solid 8/10. Worth a watch, and replay. Buy this dvd.

The Kents should have been OK with the destroyed house since they know that Clark can rebuild it in an hour. They should have gone and greated Kara like nothing had happened.

I picked up the Blu Ray of it today, Walmart had it with a DVD copy as well, which is awesome for me. :D Going to watch it later tonight.

I just finished watching my Blu-Ray version of the movie, FREAKING AWESOME, the last fight scene, WOW!!!:up: I loved it, and the Green Arrow short was fantastic, another home run, 9.5/10!!!:awesome::up:

I still can't believe some people actually thinks this is the worst movie:huh::huh::huh:

What else can you ask for in an Animated film???

The Big 3 vs. Doomsay clones

WW and Big Barda vs. Furies

Batman vs. Darkseid

Supergirl vs. Darkseid

Superman vs. Darkseid

Need I say more on how awesome this film is:cwink:

The fights were good, its the story that was kinda stupid. Like that fight with WW in the Metropolis park. WTF man?

Just got home from school and my copy from Amazon was waiting for me, nice cool lithograph and they did a nice job on the blu-ray slip cover. I'll post my thoughts later on. I'm going to probably enjoy it nonetheless with Conory, Daly and Eisenberg returning.

Enjoyed the movie quite a bit. The animation was great, fight scenes are getting better with every animated movie they do, IMO. Especially the last fight scene, I did not expect that to happen, which was great. I'd definitely give this an 8/10

The Green Arrow animated short really won me over, 9.5/10 Left me wanting more.
