DC Animated - Superman/Batman: Apocalypse

people who didnt like the movie maybe liked the comic more so it fails in comparison to them. for me i think the movie was good not great. i think it is better than public enemies. it followed almost perfectly to the comic, but the slight changes kinda make it go from great to good for me. still like first flight and under the red hood better.

Did anybody have trouble hearing the special features. I get no audio.

Just finished it and I gotta say I really enjoyed this one. The animation was good not great, the lips of the Batman and Superman got to me a bit but the designs overall were great. The fight scenes were stellar, especially Barda and WW against the furies. The women in particular looked good in this one. The voice acting was stellar, Daly and Conroy shined while Eisenberg and Glau were great as well. I loved hearing Eisenberg back as Wonder Woman as I thought her performance as WW in the DCAU got better with each season. Daly and Conroy got such chemistry, I could watch both of them voice those characters until I die. I would love if we got a Superman/Batman film each year with both of them reprising their roles.

Andre fell a little flat for me though, he's got a directive type of voice but it didn't match Darkseid, but after being spoiled by Ironside for 10 years it's hard to match up.

The story was pretty much the same as the comic but I feel like it translated a bit better to screen and I enjoyed it a lot more than the comic. I loved the Batman-Darkseid confrontation at the end with Darkseid being defeated by a human not by brawn but through brains.

Overall it was much better than Public Enemies which I though fell flat with the voice acting and several other things saving it while this was good all around. Definitely one of the better DCU animation movies. I'd put this in my Top 3 or 4 for sure. Though it doesn't come close to Under the Red Hood, though that's going to be hard to top.

8.8/10

pissed off, i was on hols in the states but came home on monday there, so i missed the release

watching the preview on red hood, do we finally here kytopise spoken

I definitely enjoyed this one more than Superman/Batman: Public Enemies. The only thing I liked more about that one was that their was more Superman/Batman in it... :D I haven't read the comics for this, so I don't know what they changed for it and what not.

Just got myself a Blu-Ray today. Won't be able to watch it for a day or two though. Patience, patience, patience. (And please.....don't anyone start singing the G&R tune.)

Good movie.

The Chin and the pace of the movie stopped it from being ridiculously great I think. However, I know in there budget constraints this is probably the best they could of done. I felt it was a little rushed and a little quick for some parts of the film. Overall it is spectacular and my gripes with it are fairly miniscule.

So happy to see WW's DCAU voice back though, just superb.:hrt:.

I never read the comics, so if anyone could enlighten me if they were around the same pace as the movie it would be greatly appreciated :).1

Seemed pretty close to the comic. They did do a good job of adding vital information we didn't get in the tpb, like Darkseid's skills at manipulation getting mentioned. Comic writer Jeph Loeb has an obnoxious tendency to leave out details he doesn't feel like dealing with - in the book Supes and company showed up at Darkseid's door, and Kara had just turned evil with no explanation. (I'm still waiting for an explanation of why there were Wendigos in Las Vegas in a recent Hulk issue)

The ending was much more satisfying in the movie - if I recall correctly, in the book the Super cousins let Darkseid think he had killed Kara, and avoided the badass fight pretty much altogether.

DC comics is doing a great job with these animated movies. The only thing I missed in this movie was I was hoping Superman did to Darksied, what he did to him in the original story at the end. The movie was solid, great action scenes and fights. Darksied voice wasn't as bad as I though it would be, but Im like you guys im use to Ironside doing the voice. Man, Public Enemies, Crisis on Two Earths, Under The Red Hood and now Apocalypse - DC is not playing around with these animated movies, I just wish they would put a Flash animated film, its time for it. Marvel really needs to step up there game in this department, there last animated movie was Planet Hulk, which was good, but thats been over a year ago.

Also liked how this seem to start off right where Public Enemies left off, I wonder will they make anymore Batman/Superman movies based on the novels. I wouldn't mind them making Vol.6 Torment, or Vol.7 The search for Kryptonite, or maybe even Vol 8 (Finest Worlds) - That was a good one, I think that's the one where Batman gains all of Superman powers and starts acting crazy and the league tries to stop him at one point during the story.

Planet Hulk was released last February, but I see your point.

I absolutely adored this film from beginning to end, and I am IN LOVE with the character designs, Batman's in particular. One of the things I loved most was how almost "demonic" or "bad" Batman came across in the beginning of the film, with his new design and Conroy's short lines, "Enough!" so kick-ass.

And the final (SPOILERS) battle between Supes and Darkseid came across as a pleasant surprise (the way Darkseid shows up at Clark's home) because I thought we weren't going to get to see a final battle featuring Darkseid once our heroes left Apokalips.

I could go on. I probably will later. But all in all, I highly enjoyed this feature. I was shocked that it was just as good, or even better than "Under the Red Hood" and "Crisis on Two Earths", both which I loved.

I have mixed feelings about this Movie. and I thought it was a pretty good movie, but it did seem kind of rushed and have a slow pace at the beginning, I have read the comic and Unforgently I don't think they could not have had that happen. the book doesn't feel slow with all the arguing. and it's pretty much dead on from the comic, with a few minor changes here or there.

I am not sure why I feel so disappointed with the flim though. it might because I read the book frist, in fact this Movie was based on the frist DC comic book I ever read.

I loved the one Major Change from the book it made for an Awsome fight scene at the End. also I do like what Kara calls Bruce in the flim better than what she calls him in the book. I was waiting for it to end like it did in the book but the movie's ending was pretty good too, and still close enough to the book.

I just wish they would have had Kara mention the Glass being a stupid way to have a secret Idenitiy like they do in the book, but that's just me being a fanboy.

the Green Arrow short was Amazing, after I watched it I want this movie to be about Green Arrow, and want to know why the HECK Don't we have Green Arrow animated movie yet.

I'm still trying to figure out what Darkseid was trying to pull with that cape-tugging gag...?

Jim Croce said it best.
You don't tug on Superman's cape
You don't spit into the wind
You don't pull the mask off the old Lone Ranger
And you don't mess around with Jim, da do da do

What's Powergirl's origin???

Wasn't she a clone of Supergirl??

But in Public Enemies..Supergirl hasn't arrived yet.

Power Girl is the Earth-Two counterpart of the Kryptonian Supergirl and first cousin to Kal-L, the Superman of Earth-Two. Possessing her cousin's superhuman strength and ability to fly, she took his place in the Justice Society of America after he entered into semi-retirement to focus on his personal life. Kara-L has since been recognized as an important member of the JSA.
After the events of the Crisis on Infinite Earths and the merging of Earth-Two into New Earth, Power Girl was led to believe that she was a descendant of the Atlantean sorcerer Arion. This was later revealed to be a deception, and Kara's true Earth-Two heritage was revealed to her during the "Infinite Crisis".

During the events of Infinite Crisis, Power Girl was shocked to learn from Arion that her Atlantean origin was a lie. The story was crafted for her own protection, and was created by her foster mother, Lois Lane.
The Psycho-Pirate showed Kara multiple origins in an effort to drive her insane, but eventually revealed that her Kryptonian origin was her true origin. Power Girl was not only a survivor of Krypton, she was also a survivor of the entire Earth-Two universe. It is still unclear why she survived the Crisis retaining her pre-Crisis origin, when other Earth-Two figures, such as Jay Garrick and Alan Scott, did not.

Thanks

So she's from a parallel earth in the Superman/Batman Public Enemies and Apocalypse animated continuity.

So I guess Crisis on 2 Earths really made all 9 movies from Bruce Timm and co all in the same continuity just different Earths. :cwink:

Like Owlman said in JL Crisis on 2 Earths... "It Doesn't Matter," either way. :cwink: :woot:

Have to say I like the comic better. Didn't really like the ending of this. I guess the change was since the movie has to be it's own universe whereas in the comic it has a larger landscape. Also I never got the insight that I got from the comic. Like the respect superman and batman have for each other.
