I just picked up Vol. 1 and 2 of DC:New Frontier, and it is amazing.
Ever since I first saw the cover I was drawn to it, today I had to get it to see what was up with it.
It is so cool, the artwork reminds me of the Timm DC Animated Universe, the writing is very good, and I just love the retro setting.
It's a wonderful period piece, it's such a great idea.
I love the Superman "S" being the yellow, red, and black. The whole thing is just neat.
I haven't even read all that much, just about three chapters and I'm loving every panel, every word balloon, every second of the fun!
For those who don't know what it's about, it is set in the fifties when they are trying to get the super heroes to unmask themselves or be black listed just like so many actors etc. during the Mcarthy hearings, the war heroes from the war comics interact with the super heroes which never happened back then, and that's about all I know so far.
I am a bit dissapointed with the action figures for this book, they could've done a better job with the detail but I have to get a Superman, and I hope they come out with a Bat-Man, I haven't seen him yet.
I have recently gotten back into Batman and Superman and lately I've been drawn back to the DC Universe entirely and this is hitting the spot.
I love Marvel but I also love DC. I just like how their heroes are more clear, not getting mudded up by constant woes, but I still like that part of Marvel, but I also like sitting down and reading about a stand up, clean cut, simple Super Hero.
