DC to "Rebirth" in June - Part 1

Snyder is a cheap sensationalist. He's that kid in the lunch room drinking too much Mountain Dew and making loud obnoxious noises in a desperate attempt to get attention.

I've been trying to get into rebirth -- I just ordered a few Rebirth Vol. 1s (Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Nightwing, and Batgirl.) Any other recommendations? Seems like a good time to get into comics.

I thought Dark Days : The Forge was pretty good. Snyder seems to work better when he has a co-writer, since Batman #44 was also pretty readable compared to the rest of his output. That said, I'm likely going to skip the METAL event. I also think Capullo's cover for the first issue is pretty stupid.

Also, has The Flash ALWAYS been this boring? I picked up the first few issues when it started as I liked what I read of Nailbiter, but dropped it shortly after because it wasn't doing anything for me. I then jumped back into it after The Button, and I've found the past two issues to be really unengaging. It's also a little too....bleak for a Flash comic. The stuff with Reverse Flash is kinda cool, but unless they do a full removal of Flash: Rebirth from Barry's narrative, I don't really have an interest in where it goes.

Detective Comics, Superman, Super Sons, Red Hood and the Outlaws, Green Arrow are must reads

Deathstroke. While it's not from Rebirth line, I'd also recommend The Flintstones if you want to read non-cape stuff. One of the best recent DC books.

I love this!!! To me, Snyder is that girl who over-dramatizes everything so that no matter what's going on, it has to be some huge event.

Action Comics in September will reveal who Oz is.

I don't think it's the obvious answer, but connected to the obvious answer. [blackout] I think it's someone from outside of the "regular" DC continuity that has also seen the Watchmen world, and took up the Oz name from Ozymandius. My guess is Booster Gold. [/blackout]

What is your guess based on?

[blackout]Partly my hope just to see him again. Partly the fact that Johns was, again, saying that they had plans for Booster soon. But Johns has been saying crap like that forever, so who knows.

Booster has taken the role of fixing broken timelines before, in his series right after 52. So it also falls in line with his whole schtick.

Lastly, the fact that we've seen Ted Kord alive again, and hints that the JLI team are back to their pre-New52 Origins. Booster would probably do that.

Hmm...The solicit suggests Oz is someone Clark already knows (why would someone he's never heard of, the obvious choice, shock him to his core?)

I'm going to miss Rucka on Wonder Woman but I'm psyched for Robinson. His Starman run is my 2nd favorite in comics.

It has to be Pete Ross then, who took up the name Oz due to the Wizard of Oz-Kansas connection. :o

Hype for Aquaman, Batman, Superman, Super Sons, Nightwing, Injustice 2 and Trinity tomorrow. Whew.

And I guess i'll check out JL too. It was a little better last issue.

I hear you. I know I might be setting myself up for disappointment but War of Jokes and Riddles sounds really awesome.

And I love Super Sons. Jonathan has been a great addition to DC

Looking forward to the next Batman arc. Saw that Deadshot vs Deathstroke panel. :hmr:

Yeah, the War of Jokes and Riddles sounds awesome. I hope it doesn't disappoint!

And I agree about Jonathan. His dynamic with Damian is amazing. I love all of their ridiculous banter :funny:

WW has a new creative team but it's only for 6 issues...why isn't DC locking down someone full time?

That's just not how comics are done anymore, sadly.

I'm sure the WW books are hitting a huge sales bump because of the movie. So they might also be afraid to lock someone down long-term for two reason I can see.

1) Comics in general (but I think more DC) has their obsession with short-term sales boosts that come from new creative teams, new #1s, reboots, etc. They'd take those boosts away from their hot ticket character.
2) They couldn't use the book to lure new talent to the company that want to make their mark on the hot character

Lol. It probably is the obvious choice, its just the wording of that solicit made me think it might be someone he already knows. The whole being shocked to his core thing might just be learning what 'Mr. Oz' has been doing.

Curious. What'd everyone think of Batman #25?

It has huge potential imo, really liked it i have to say.
The Last page however made laugh a bit, because the irony.
Tom King doesnt get Bruce Wayne imo, he simply copys this distant and cold Bruce Wayne that most do...so i thought it was ironic when he wrote how Bruce thinks that nobody gets him.

More and more it feels like King understands the Villians more than Batman/Bruce.
Which gives the whole thing a different feeling, but falls flat when he tries to write Bruce as a human and not just as Batman.

I actually liked Batman #25. I'm curious to see where they go with this story. The only thing I have a problem with is Selina and Bruce calling each other "Bat" and "Cat". It's too weird. I hate it!

Yeah that was weird, especially considering
this comes from the same guy who probably wants them to get married.

It felt so weird, i think the whole last pages felt out of place.
