Simple "He's a mutant from the future, and he came back to stop [the] apocalypse" mayyyybe mention he's Cyke's son (people will assume he aged naturally into the future), and that's it. No need to get into all the s*** with the clones and the T-O virus... not til X-Force at least.

His essence isn't that tough to nail, it's only when you get into his villains and many death-and-rebirths that it gets really crazy

Frosty keeps delivering the goods from Wernick and Reese, this time regarding setting up X-Force.

RHETT REESE: There is a responsibility we have to the X-Force universe, and I do think we will not disappoint the fans going into Deadpool 2 and then setting up X-Force and beyond.

PAUL WERNICK: We never want to let the tail wag the dog. We want to tell the best Deadpool story we can. But I do think we have a responsibility to think about a larger universe in the way that Marvel does and start to put pieces in place. Some of these movies feel overstuffed and almost choking with the need to set up eighteen different things that pay off down the road, and we want to avoid that responsibility to the extent that it hurts us. We want to hint at things, we want to plan some characters, and we want to make some nods, but we’re very, very cognizant about making sure that Deadpool is above all a Deadpool movie.

REESE: Its purpose is not to set up X-Force. It will likely set up X-Force, but the drive of the movie won’t be our eyes on Movie 3.

Also the streamlining of Cable's origin for the film isn't really new news, Wernick/Reese have both talked about how they would need to simplify it for the GA. It's a good thing to that they're doing that.

cable being cyclops son was retcon anyway.cable was more mysteras guy when introduced in new mutants and who took charge.very doudtful at time they knew he would be cyclops son.don't forget for awhile there we were led to believe he was simply clone of stryfe who was cyclops' son.later in his own book they revealed it was other way around.

just keep cable as mysteras character.as for wheither you get into in his first film if he's come from far future don't blow all your load.That should come in full X-force film not in film were he's secondary character to deadpool.

This series is built on being meta, I can see Wade cracking jokes about his Origins or using the 4th wall breaks to point out facts about Cable.

This film doesn't follow basic film narrative rules due to the lead. So they have a lot to work with while still being accurate.

Glad to hear a lot of the original cast are coming back, its always better for sequels to have some continuity and keep things that worked, especially Colossus who Deadpool bounced off the best last time out but will be good to see more of him and NTW to see what else they can do with them.

If he's Cable, then there's a possibility he has some presence in Logan. Cable can time travel, if I remember correctly?

based on comments i would say there is good chance of wolverine cameoing or having minor role in deadpool 2

as a fan of Pierce Brosnan as bond i wouldn't mind him as cable.he has exceperence firing guns.
