This movie is starting out VERY strong. The question is, will people go re-watch the movie now?

A few on here already have, I am going for my 2nd viewing on Tuesday night, so yeah, I think they will.

Even if this is front-loaded, it already made back its budget. It's a smash success and it did much higher than expected.

...and it's Cinemascore is A. The reviews are glowing. It's getting plenty of positive word of mouth.

DEADPOOL opened with an estimated $135.0M over the 3-day weekend. #Deadpool

Let's go home, ladies and gentlemen.

Curious about how it's doing overseas. I'll be in full support mode once it's released here on Thursday.

That is so damn awesome, I am so happy this has been a crazy success!

I imagine in the UK it has done really well. My first night showing was packed and many of my Facebook friends have seen and loved it.

What Ryan must feel right now towards FOX:

Deadline is now saying it's projected to earn in the range of $151-155 million by the end of Monday, which is insane. That's getting into Iron Man/Batman territory.

Perhaps this wall not just wake other studios up to R rated films doing well, but also how doing a good marketing campaign not just dumping photoshop posters and all of the movie through 40 tv spots 10 clips and 4 trailers, is clearly effective.

It's just more evidence that the PG-13 strategy is nonsense and R-rated movies can make money.

Just saying, look what the studios did with Die Hard, RoboCop, and Expandables. Cardinal rule for filmmaking: Don't turn R-rated franchises into PG-13 ones. Fans don't tolerate that nonsense. You can't honey pot the fans with a PG-13 rating.

What exactly do you mean by "more evidence?" The Punisher films haven't made any money. It's a simple business strategy. Market to a wider audience and not just adults and you'll make more money. Oh, and just because something is rated PG-13 doesn't mean it's less grown up than R rated movies. I guarantee you that Civil War will have a more grown up feel than Deadpool.

It's really funny. One R rated superhero movie comes out and everybody loses their minds.

Seeing this for a second time in a few hours!

Some of the records it will break:

Largest February Opening Weekend: $85.1 million (Fifty Shades of Grey)
Largest 4-Day President's Day Weekend: $93 million (Fifty Shades of Grey)
Largest R-Rated Opening Weekend: $91.7 million (The Matrix Reloaded)
Largest R-Rated Comic Adaptation Opening Weekend: $70.8 million (300)
Largest Winter Season Opening Weekend: $89.2 million (American Sniper)
Largest Opening Ever for 20th Century Fox: $108.4 million (Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith)

First TFA smashes every record in sight and now Deadpool heaps up a pile of crowns. And it's only mid-frigging-February....

Saw DP last night and I'll be surprised if the legs aren't very strong for this baby. It was a late night screening and the theater was rocking. I'll be really curious to see how studios react to this, particularly those that make CBM's. I can see why people say it's a game changer, but only time will tell what that really means.

Those Deadpool numbers are insane....

Ummm, there is good reason to lose our minds. This movie is doing INSANE numbers. I mean, we are talking about Iron Man 2 numbers. For a non-sequel. In Feb. Without 3D. With an R rating. I understand that it is difficult to wrap your mind around, I still am having some difficulty with it to.

But, I think with the acclaim of Daredevil, Jessica Jones, and Deadpool, I think it is okay for super hero movies to grow up a little bit in terms of content. And you don't necessarily have to cut content just to get PG-13 (looks at The Wolverine).

I hope so. X-Men films always have terrible legs, but I don't think people realize this is an X-Men film. It's certainly not playing like one this weekend.

But now studios can no longer write off an adult concept or adaptation just because it requires an R rating. They must pause and consider other factors which is a huge victory for adults who enjoy movies.
