Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 4

Chandler never crossed anyone minds cause you would never imagine him to play this kind of role. It's basically out of the box casting. Mackenzie Davis we will see. She seems does have face where you think she could pull of Domino like nothing. We will see her in Blade Runner sequel I guess.

I don't know anything about Cable, but Kyle Chandler is one amazing actor.

Nice! I like this rumor. Chandler is an interesting suggestion; I can see it, but I don't have a 100% clear picture of it, and that's what makes it intriguing. He'd have to bulk up of course, but he seems like a good fit.

And Mackenzie Davis. Oh God yes, please. I've been wanting to see her in a superhero movie role for a while now. In addition to just being gorgeous, the girl has got presence. She routinely steals scenes on Halt and Catch Fire, a show where there are no weak links in the cast. I don't know the Domino character that well, but I'm down with Mackenzie in any role. Make it happen.

That is, if these rumors are true. But I hope they are.

Chandler is one of those actors you see in everything but I wouldn't have pegged him for Cable if the rumor is true. I'd buy it, though.

Mayimbe says that Chandler is/was Tim's first choice, but Fox wants someone bigger and passed on him before SDCC. Let's see who wins out on this one - seems like Tim really wants a good actor to be his man rather than some generic muscle-y guy with gray hair. Chandler is a guy I can really see raising Hope Summers.

Some of the fanart makes Mackenzie Davis look really good as Dom though. I find Dom a bit of a cookie cutter badass, witty female character archetype so I hope the rumors of her being a scene stealer are true in order to differentiate her as a character from say, Black Widow. Davis is talented so Fox probably wants to scoop her up JLaw style before she hits it big.

That's a damn shame if true. Chandler is a fantastic actor, and if Tim Miller - the guy who so completely GOT Deadpool - thinks he's the right choice, Fox should let him have it. The Deadpool name is going to sell itself—they don't need to bring in someone with more "star power."

Fox, do you what you did the first go around: LET THE FILMMAKERS MAINTAIN THEIR VISION.

As much as I like Neeson, I don't want him as Cable. And I agree, after the massive success they had, Fox should let Miller do what he thinks is right.

If Fox mess up this franchise I swear to God.... Let filmmakers make a fricking film they want!

people have this misconception that fox just threw money at miller and let him do his thing lol

if they let them do their thing the original script would of been way higher than 55 million and wouldn't of had negasonic teenage warhead or angeldust

original script also had Garrison Kane, Sluggo and Wire.

there is such a thing as good studio interference where they reign in the film makers to make sure the script isn't overstuffed and overbudgeted

Pretty sure that's not why they continued to cut their budget. Fox was simply super cheap here and didn't have a drop of faith in the Movie.

Now that it turned out to be a massive success, greed and studio logic sets in. "If the Movie had this much success with no bankable names at all, imagine what we could rake in with a household name in the Movie. Get Neeson in on this ****!"

Yeah, Fox did let them do what they wanted based around a budget. They were not messing with things creatively and this is pretty well known now. It's not like Fox was saying lets use this ultra marketable character called Negasonic Teenage Warhead and Angel Dust. All this stuff came from the creative team based around the money they had to work with.

As for the casting yeah, Fox needs to let these guys cast who they want. Never would have thought of Coach Taylor but I'm all for the casting. Chandler is fantastic. Loving this Domino casting too!

Chandler would be awesome. What an inspired casting if he comes on bored.

I mean, studios butting heads over casting is nothing new and they probably had it for the first Deadpool as well so it's probably not Fox being super intrusive all of a sudden, but it would be cool for Tim to get his man. Hopefully it works out, unless Chandler doesn't want it of course.

Casting Liam Neeson seems pretty expensive too. Both Kyle and Mackenzie seem like very affordable, long-term options. Deadpool and Ryan himself will sell the film though, so everyone should try and piggyback on that instead of trying to add a big star to that cast.

I never thought of Kyler Chandler before, and I'll be honest, I still have difficulties envisioning him as Cable. But what I like about this choice, is that I could actually see him be related to Cyclops.

Pretty much my thoughts exactly. I like Neeson, but I don't want him as Cable and he doesn't look like he'd be related to Cyclops.

what i like about Chandler is he will play the perfect straight man to deadpool he plays those roles very good

i feel guys like neeson and especially Lang would try to play this role too overly rough and tough

With the X-franchise and major characters I find this odd though. Lawrence, Fassbneder and Mcavoy were not huge when casted in FC. Jackman was an unknown. Marsden and Famke also were not draws. Apocalypse did not cast major names either.

I think it's a bit strange that for this property they are now demanding a star. It will sell based on Deadpool alone like you said. Not on who is playing Cable. Audiences don't even know if they like the character yet. It's gonna be when they walk out of the film, thats when he will gain marketability.

Yeah, and I mean... Reynolds is already a star. So there's your big name. And if they want another big name, maybe they can find one for the villain. But if Miller wants to go with a lesser known actor like Chandler, f***ing let him. He knows what he's doing.

Jeff Sneider never said chandler was miller's top choice just a name that has been floating around the trades for months for a cable candidate so you guys can stop the let tim miller do his thing FOX talk lol

Besides McAvoy (and perhaps Fassy), were any of those the first choices though? (I feel like Patrick and Ian were Singer's first choice in X1 as well) Fox at the time may have suggested other people to Singer/Vaughn and or they themselves could've approached other people too. Fox may have always pushed for a few bigger/established names and for whatever reason we ended up with the actors we do have for better or worse.

But yeah, given what we've seen in Apocalypse as well as the spinoffs, Fox might think they should put the money on the screen rather than throw it at the cast (with the exception being DOFP) and it's actually worked out for the most part these last 6 years. So no need to change that now all of a sudden.

The part about Chandler being Miller's top choice came from Mayimbe. Fox doesn't want Chandler, they want a big star like Neeson to play Cable. Miller doesn't want Neeson.
