If you are comparing Deadpool to a Scary Movie type of parody movie than you are already off base. That is not what this film is at all.
^ Sorry for not being more specific, but can you elaborate on how it "actually shows a great deal of respect for the X-world", especially in relation to what's come before?

That's what it seemed like based on the brief trailers/TV spots that I saw.
I'm rather sensitive when it comes to the integrity of the X-franchise, since it's my favorite currently running superhero film franchise and I don't particularly like 'parody' stuff to begin with.
I'd still like more people to chime in with their thoughts on how/why Deadpool is worth checking out as a fan of the already-existing X-films, but want to thank BlackFox for his/her comments.
You're not answering the question I'm asking, though, and injecting stuff into the conversation that has nothing to do with what I'm actually wanting people to do.
Convince me - as someone who has no desire to see Deadpool, buy the blu-ray release, or acknowledge's the film's existence as part of the X-franchise at all - why I should change my mind.
Deadpool is the new Iron Man and Ryan is our new RDJ. This crew is going to take the X-Men to new heights never seen before and if we're lucky, guys like Mangold/Boone will follow.

I have a request: I want people to tell me why they think Deadpool is worth seeing/including/(eventually) buying as part of the larger FOX X-franchise, keeping in mind that it came across to me as one of those horrible "spoof movies" (like Vampires Suck, The Starving Games, etc.) and consequently doesn't seem like it would add anything particularly relevant to the overall pre-existing and 16-year-strong FOX X-franchise.

The opening sequence is awesome and pretty unique, but I really liked both the Workshop fight in the fire and the final showdown. I wasn't let down, action-wise, and director Tim Miller did a great job creating momentum during the action scenes and making them feel exciting and exhilerating.

Yeah, just saw it. Did they get Ryan Reynolds to do the voice over? So damn funny. Deadpool wants everyone to suck his ****.
