Deadpool Deadpool News and Discussion - Part 4

I didn't even realize it was supposed to start filming soon.

After talking about it and pondering this news I am starting to lean in a negative direction. I still maintain that people panic too much about directors not sticking around to do endless sequels. I still don't believe that all franchises have to keep directors around after the first movie.

Even though this is unfortunate, I think the movie will be fine. I think what made the first movie really pop was Reynolds' charisma and comedic timing and the tight script. I dont think Miller was necessarily the magic ingredient.

Fox ruining this franchise. Nothing knew. I expected it. Villain is always the villain.

I think you cant praise a movie and not give the director a lot of credit. Especially in this case. It's like praising a team but not the coach.

Talent can get you far but it takes a leader to bring it all together. Whether it be a coach, director, general, sales company, etc.

This news sucks but lets see who they get

Until you see the second film dismissing Miller's contribution is beyond ridiculous. Reynolds is just an actor. Giving Reynolds credit and not the director is ludicrous.

Changing directors is not always a big deal but dismissing Miller is just a movie star gazing response to the situation.

Don't be silly. Chill

1) Sources are pointing toward a difference between Reynolds and Miller not FOX. You can speculate on it but theres nothing other than that
2) You don't know who they're going to hire after Miller. Of course he/she could be worse. Or he/she could be better

THe whole blaming FOX thing is old and kinda stupid now considering the quality products FOX has released the past few years. True they have stinkers but I think only 1 (at least that Ive heard of) that sucked because of FOX involvement and that was Fan4stic and even that just had bad ideas from the creative team too.

Apparently Miller had a chance to direct a projected he wanted to direct at Fox so he took the opportunity but Frosty from Collider said that there was drama between him and Ryan. Also Fox has been having a bad year with Marvel directors

Only fool is buying this. For some reason Miller didnt even had a contract signed for sequel. Read between the lines. We also heard Miller wanting mckenzie and chandler and fox wanting action star. I just have hard time believing he would left cause of reynolds and just him.

What lines are there to read into to?

So you're just gonna say: "Nope it's FOX" even though everyone is saying otherwise as of right now? People with actual behind the scenes knowledge and not just guys on a messge board? Ok

And looking at the Domino shortlist I dont think getting an "action star" is that high on their list. Only 1 of them fits that bill

Miller is literally leaving this film to direct another at FOX. People love to blame the studio.

That's different then "creative differences" For all we know it's the reason Tim chose to direct another film. It really sucks either way because Deadpool was the ultimate passion project and now the band is breaking up.

sad news but lets see what happens while i thought tim's direction was quite good but the script was why the film was so good imo

keep in mind fox replaced the director from rise of the planet of the apes for dawn and the sequel was even better

Yeah. Gambit seems to do nothing but lose directors and generally not come together.

The opening credits said as much. :) Funny that we haven't seen the writers mentioned in the so called "creative differences" between Miller and VanCity.

That's too bad. Comedy sequels have a high failure rate as it us and losing Miller certainly isn't going to make it any easier. I don't know if FOX can just plug in a good director and pull this off

The opening credits most definitely written by Reese and Wernick who happen to be the execs.
If he's "an overpaid tool", I'm guessing they're looking for someone cheaper :cwink:

What is worrisome they dont even have a script. Miller was writing one. So no director and no script.

You mean the same writers whose screenplay Fox didn't give a **** about until influential directors like Fincher and Cameron went to bat for them? The same screenplay upon the film which came to be only got greenlit until after the test footage was made? And even then with a heavily reduced budget?

You're right. Writers don't have any 'creative differences' with Fox. They would have to be held at some esteem to have that difference.

No, Miller was interviewed and spoke on behalf of the script writers.
I'm sure he had involvement in that process.

Not the news I wanted to hear at all. Was hoping for some official Domino casting news. :csad:

Man, this is depressing. Glad to hear Fox is still working with Miller though. How many first time Directors have a hit of this size for their first film?

The thing about Miller is that he was a huge fan of this material alongside Reynolds and supported the film for quite sometime so I really hope they find someone just as perfect for the sequel. I'm sure it will be much easier to find someone this go around.

All that said, as long as Reese, Wernick and Reynolds are still on board I won't panic. Those guys have been here the longest and we know most the material comes from them. As long as those voices are there we should be in good shape!

Is there an actual reason given for Miller not returning?
