Yeah, is Cudmore the definitive Colossus? Of course he isn't.

I say Ryan Hurst .

Freeway scene looks to still be here, hopefully will find out what's up with the Rasputin casting when they shoot this part.

Filming of a movie starring Ryan Reynolds will close down the Georgia Viaduct — one of Vancouver's main commuting arteries — for part of April.
Twentieth Century Fox's Deadpool — a spin off from the successful X-Men franchise — will bring $37.5 million dollars to the city, according to a press release from the City of Vancouver.
Test footage from the anticipated 2016 release was leaked to Youtube in January.

"Vancouver strongly supports our thriving film and TV industry, which creates major economic and community benefits for our residents and businesses," Mayor Gregor Robertson said in the release.
The closures to the viaduct — which will not affect the Dunsmuir side — will take place between April 5 to 18 and will, the city says, minimize the effect on rush hour traffic.

“After scouting locations in North America and Europe, we selected Vancouver for both budgetary reasons and because of the City’s increasingly positive reputation regarding its support for filming,” said Deadpool Executive Producer, John Kelly.

“The use of the viaduct is necessary to accommodate a critical scene that requires the appearance of highway overpasses entering a major urban centre. We are very pleased to have this opportunity to work with the City of Vancouver.”

The municipal government contends that the Deadpool production will have an enormous positive economic impact to the local economy. The production company will spend about $38 million and hire more than 1,100 people. The last time the Georgia Viaduct was closed for an extensive period was during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games when the roads around BC Place and Rogers Arena were incorporated into the security buffer.

I never read the leaked script and will withhold from doing so now that the movie is being made, but is this freeway scene the same that we saw in the test footage? Or was the test footage just a small portion of this scene in the script?

The test footage was like a cliff notes version of the full scene. It is... Insane.

Hope not, if it's not Cudmore, better they cut out Colossus of script.

I find it weird that filming is about to begin and there's still no actor hired for Colossus? Maybe he's not in the film after all.

Or they are not filming his parts till later. I mean, how long were we still getting casting info for DOFP?

Who knows? Personally, I would rather they use a new character than recast a previously established one.

Edit: Oh, I see kasjan said the same exact thing. Ditto.

Suppose the question would be out of everyone what would make them write collosus out the story in the first place?

Colossus is so great in the script. I don't understand why anyone would reject an oportunity to showcase a popular mutant character in a shinning AND accurately portrayed role. All because it forces a necessary recast?

Exactly

Noticed Morena took down her pic confirming her as Vanessa. Kinda odd.

I hate recasting, though it is true that sometimes it is necessary. I would still prefer a different character over a recast, but to be fair, I have not read the script… only heard that he is pretty interchangeable.

Could be for budgetary reasons. I love Colossus (and would have loved to have seen him in this) but it's probably not feasible to use such a CG heavy character in a film where they desperately need to keep the budget down.

I could be wrong, I just have this nagging feeling that they swapped him out for whoever Gina Carano is playing (a la Juggernaut/Quicksilver in DOFP). They cast an actress like Carano (who's known for her physicality because of her MMA backround) weeks ago, as a character who wasn't even in the original script but we haven't heard ziltch about who's playing Colossus?

Maybe, maybe not. We'll know soon enough. :ninja:

If Colossus's role was replaced it would more then likely be by a character who represents the X-Men/X-Force in some form. There needs to be hero's and villains to retain the scripts theme of Wade blurring the line between the two.

Angel Dust is a very odd characetr to represent the X-Men so my money is on her replacing Wyre or Sluggo. Pairing up Colossus against another character with super strength makes sense and the script was pretty limited on female characters.

At least half the cast is not announced. So yeah, need to wait and see. Too difficult to tell what's there and not at the moment.

You can only do so much on a 40-45 million budget.

Suppose it depends how much they need him to be in steel form through the film, i havent read the script so i wouldn't know

I don't know, I think they might be able to pull it off, even with that budget. X-Men 2 came out what, 12 years ago? You'd think certain effects are cheaper to pull off nowadays. Especially if it's just a guy supposed to look like metal. Heck, they might even be able to make him look better than he did in the past 2 Movies. Working with little funds forces people to be creative.

One possible reason would be crossover rights. Both Deadpool and the Surfer came over to FOX on separate contracts after the Artisan deal failed. With Deadpool (kinda) appearing in Origins and the Surfer in FF 2, the general thinking was that these two characters were part and parcel of the X-Men and FF contracts, respectively.

It could be that Colossus is on a separate contract than Deadpool, and his appearance in a Deadpool movie would require approval from the Mouse. Just a thought, and I will quickly retract it when and if FOX hires an enormous, muscular Russian.

If colossus is in it they probably won't get an expensive actor to play him

Well, Colossus still probably needs to be done with CGI. And if they want to save the money to instead use it for the making of importants sequences and the movie's overall quality and outcome, way to go. Especially if keeping down the costs would mean they shoot for an R rating and don't tone ***** down.

They could always make it a suit again and enhance it with CGI. Just make it look better than the nightmare that was the X3 costume.
