Stay JP :D. It's R-rates and we love it

Don't get me wrong, I think there's a risk with R because there's a part of the audience that won't get to see it. That being said, it's a lower budget film for that reason. Plus, Kingsmen has stayed around for a crazy amount of time, which shows R-rated comic adaptations can work quite well.

It was a guy who minutes earlier saved his life.

Did he kill the guy or wound him? If he killed him, then the writer who wrote that scene doesn't get the character. A scene like that in the movie would most likely turn people off. This is a the kind of crap that pisses me off about most modern day writers of the Big 2 superhero comics. There's a generation of writers who are constantly trying to "one up each other" or "up the ante" by having characters act immoral and despicable as they can.

Yes, but the fact is he still keeps a blind old woman prisoner and harasses and tortures her.

DP and Blind Al's relationship is a twisted comedic love/hate relationship.

Yes, but he still casually stabs himself in the head... then carries on talking. You can't have stuff like that in PG-13 films.

Sure you can, as long as the scene isn't gory or bloody.

Every time I leave for a few hours I come back and it's STILL GOING. And there's actual set photos being buried in this mess. Oy.

Here are the sales guestimates for issue 14 of Kelly's DP series from 1998. It was #38 on Diamonds top 300 sales chart.

Deadpool 14 $1.99 Marvel 47,087

By 1998 standards, those aren't good sales (this was during the whole market crash era). However, by 2015 standards, those are good sales. The current series is currently selling around that same level. In other words, as the Market readership has shrunk, the same number of DP readers have stuck around.

It's still an X-film. So expect some of the same insanity as the X forums. And as nice as those set photos are, who knows how long they will remain up. At least we have confirmation of the facial scarring. And Bacarin's hair is interesting. Would love it if it ended up full white.

It is hilarious to see the Slater position be defended. The Wolverine was a lesser film because they made the cuts to get to PG-13. I don't see how anyone can argue against letting the filmmakers make the film they want, at the intended rating.

Especially for a character that seems fitting for an ultra violent film ala Kingsman or Kick-Ass.

Anyway, I'd read that write-up on Deadpool. Explains everything perfectly well. And no, the harder stuff wasn't made up by fans, as much as you like to reiterate that the character was created for all ages (if he was, so what? Many of his stories still contained stuff that, if shown in a live action movie, would need an R rating).

I said "fans turned pro", not fans.

Oh good god, the movie IS rated R, the debate is over, just shut up about it already, you aren't getting a PG-13 Deadpool film, so there is no reason to continue the absolutely friggin pointless debate, wouldn't it be better to discuss the fact that filming is starting and set pics are coming in?

According to this Marvel holds the majority from profits.

Assuming that hasn't changed Marvel gets more than 50% and they decide if Merchandise is made or not.

So if they were to permit merchandise they'd get the majority of the money made.

So from a business sense it would profit them more than Fox to make merchandise, they won't cos don't want to help Fox which doesn't make sense as they made X-Men Days of Future Past the second best selling Marvel movie of 2014 without any presence on shelves.

Withholding merchandise won't hurt the Fox movies or enable them to be sold back to Marvel any quicker. Only people it affects are fans and Marvel themselves who could be getting additional money from another studios movies but choose not to.

Except they could make that same money merchandising their own films AND additional money from making merchandise of the Fox ones too.

It's not one or the other, it's more about choosing one and not the other when you could have both.

They merchandised Sonys Spider-Man. Admittedly he's the highest earning merchandise characters so it'd be stupid not to. But if they chose only their own and didn't make any movie Spidey merchandise they'd have saved themselves additional millions in profit.
Same could in theory be applied to Deadpool and X-Men, they could make merchandise and profit from them but refuse to out of spite

Thanks for posting that link and quote. By doing the research and finding that statement, you may have just cleared up the mystery about how much profit Marvel makes from merch for the FOX movies. If you are a Bleedingcool forum user, you should either post this info up on their forums discussing this topic or email the link and quote to Rich Johnson. If not, I'm going to post the link and quote on a BC thread discussing the breakdown between Marvel and FOX and will give you credit for finding this info and post a link to this page.

How the hell did the PG-13 rating make THE WOLVERINE a "lesser film"? What does "lesser film" even mean?

FYI, an unrated cut of THE WOLVERINE was released. So did that unrated cut make it "more of a movie" for you.

I will not "shut up" and I will voice my opinion wheter you want to hear it or not. If you don't want to read my posts please feel free to put me on ignore.

I really hope she's more than just Vanessa. Give us Copycat!

Yeah. I would be disappointed if she has no mutant powers and no white hair/blue skin.

And I want her to have a fight scene with Angel Dust!

More than likely Vanessa won't show signs of mutant powers in this film. They might try to hold off on her discovering or revealing those abilities in later films. Don't want this film to get convoluted.

Besides, after all we're getting at this point, I don't think we should be looking a gift horse in the mouth. Whatever that expression actually means.

I'm curious why Hot Toys has been allowed to make Wolverine figures based on the movies though. We've had one for X3, Origins, The Wolverine and DOFP. Just surprises me Marvel let them.

But I do expect a Hot Toys Deadpool movie version :D.

Me too. At the very least I think we might see a Hot Toys Deadpool and maybe a Marvel Select version.

In the set pics it looks like Reynolds is picking something up from the ground, which is wrapped in aluminum foil. Could it be an old chimichanga?

Deadpool doesn't actually like chimichangas... he just likes saying the word lol.

Oh, I know, and wish more people knew, like whatever writer didn't do their homework and had Deadpool start eating them all the time.

But Reynolds has mentioned chimichangas a couple times now, so there will undoubtedly be a reference to it. I'm hoping, if there is, it's something subtle like him finding a chimichanga on the ground when he's in his 'homeless-escaped-from-workshop' stage.

Then again it could be an enchilada!
