Deadpool Deadpool Spin-off Confirmed - Part 2

They like good movies and thats that. Its not comlicated. Sitting on this flick and doing nothing is completely pointless. Sell it if your not gonna move. Deadpool is too big of a property now. Or Fox can man up and take a friggen risk.....that isn't even that big. Marvel is shoving out almost $200 million on D listers. This flick has a 50M budget. Come on.
That's not true. I used to think that, but look there are a lot of good movies that arent that successful and Im not talking about indies either.
-Dredd
-Edge of Tomorrow
-Pacific Rim (I personally didnt really like this one but it got an A- on CinemaScore)
-The World's End
are a few movies that are well liked that didnt make that much money domestically or at all. And you don't even look at movies. There are well liked music, shows, books that don't make money

I do think that Deadpool has more of a chance. It's a comedy and would/should have a modest budget. But I think it'd be better or at least smarter to (re)introduce Deadpool in an X-Men movie before doing another spin off. Gauge the pu

Satire/meta comedy is pretty popular right now. They sell it on that and have some ridiculous action, it could be pretty popular.

They would have to make it on a very low budget, 28 mil like kickass could be ok, I mean deadpool doesn't require a lot of effects

Sell the comedy and action

It requires big action sequences though. The screenplay had some outrageous sequences. The part that this test footage was from goes on for quite a few pages. There is a chase on motorbikes where Deadpool is jumping off the different levels of the junction. A scene where he and someone are having a fight on a mobile trailer home. Then a shootout on the middle of the freeway. And that is just the opening sequece.

60 million should do it though i'd say.

So I saw the footage.

The main thing about the test footage is that they based it on that DP script that was floating around years ago. The one where Deadpool and Colossus team up and do shenanigans and ****. It was a killer script, but my favorite bit I still remember to this day was its opening sequence with that song by Juice Newton. It made me ****ing lose it then, and it really really realllllyy works in the test footage.

Man, I want this to happen so badly.

I hope they make Gambit too, but lets not kid oursleves. Deadpool is one of the most popular characters (in all the Marvel Universe) nowadays and this is getting ridiculous and extremely frustrating. The reception from this footage all over the net along with the script should be more then enough to boost confidence.

Its extremely easy to call out Fox cause they keep saying yeah it will happen. But nothing is happening. That's called bull ****. Scripts good, they have the right actor and this is proof the Director knows whats up. Either move forward with confidence or sell back and watch a studio who will make a ****load of cash on the character.

Marvel is a much smaller studio and makes these kinda films exclusively. Fox is massive and has other stuff going on. Not exactly fair to paint them as being afraid to move forward, especially given that they've successfully invested in R-rated properties in the past (Predators, Prometheus, The Heat) and have given us The Wolverine, which was about the closest you could get to an R-rating.

I highly doubt that given the success they've seen with R-rated films along with the success that many other studios have seen, that it's a matter of fear preventing them from making the Deadpool movie.

It really is. These guys nailed it! :dpf:

They don't know what the **** they are doing...and this proves it even more. Should have been green lit 5 years ago.

agreed. I dont understand the "new" Fox, to be honest

I could see this being a huge hit. If they sell the whole 4th wall breaking part in the trailer, that could really make the film blow up. To my knowledge, no comic book film has done that before and the general audience loves creativity, or at least the idea of creativity.

Horror films like Saw, Paranormal Activity and the Purge have been huge box office hits based on perceived creativity alone.

We all know how big the Avengers got because they did something that hasn't been done before, or at least that's what the GA believed.

The market is flooded with the same super hero types of movies, I could see this being huge because it's something different, creative and something that hasn't been done before.

The guys in charge of taking down videoes on youtube must be having a fit.

"They've uploaded another one...!"
"GAWDDAMMIT!"

Just saw it. :funny: The Cobra line at the end was gold.

I could see something like this being big like The Mask was back in 1994.

The Worlds End, Pacific Rim and even Edge of Tomorrow did alright WW. They were not bombs or anything. Poor Dredd though, I contribute alot of that to awful marketing. It's actually fairly difficult to find good mainstream comic films that bombed though.

They already went that route with introducing Gambit and Deadpool before. And while I think tha'ts suitable for Gambit Deadpool really needs to exist on his own or in X-Force. Having him show up in a supporting X role may not be the best. He needs to let the audience know he is lead,

There's about 5 years of interviews that says the reason they have not pulled the trigger is for the R rating. Could be all excuses.

I agree though Fox should have no issue putting out an R film with their past. It's the lack of confidence of the character in general as well. Look at what they did to him in 09. It wasn't till then that they realzed...wait a minute people like this character.

An R Rated action movie beat The Rock. Times are slowly changing here

I think the reason the trigger hasn't been pulled is because Ryan Reynold has slowly become more and more box office poison. His box office demand is nowhere near it was before Green Lantern, and even then, it wasn't that high. If you had a bigger star as Deadpool, this movie would have been made already.

Let's be honest here. The mistake was making Reynolds the lead, which in hindsight wasn't a bad move because he was slowly gaining notability in Hollwood especially after critically acclaimed Buried. But then Green Lantern came, and the Change-Up came, and Turbo came, and R.I.P.D. came and all of those movies either flopped or flat out bombed. His only success came with Safe House and even that was with Denzel Washington. It was proof that Reynolds couldn't hold a movie on his own as the lead, and with a movie like Deadpool where is the de facto lead, a bigger budget Rated R movie with a hero with only a cult following from comic fans with an actor who's considered box office poison isn't a safe bet at all. In fact, it's a very risky option.

You know, i think X men Apoc could be the plateform for the spin off .
Fox can introduce Gambit and Deadpool to the audience in this movie .
So i think, we could see Gambit and Deadpool movies after 2016 .

The test footage was pretty good. I loved Dredd which was rated R and Deadpool seems like it would work even more IMO. Deadpool is probably more popular with more modern comic readers and this will actually have comedy in it. Lots of R rated comedies have decent box office numbers now a days.

Nah, it would have pulled years ago. The whole reason Reynolds took Lantern is because Fox wouldn't green light this.
