What I am excited about Colossus appearing in Deadpool is this might lead to Deadpool appearing with the Ot cast in another film since the film would be set in the present. Daniel might be done but the rest of the Ot cast- the ones that we saw in the altered future, I doubt they will recast them unless its their younger version.

I hope they cast someone popular for Colossus. Armie Hammer would be great.

Then if Gambit is set in the present too then its a party. Hugh Jackman, James Marsden, Patrick Stewart, Halle Berry, Famke Jannsen, Ellen Page, Anna Paquin, Kelsey Grammer, Shawn Ashmore.. thats still a marketable cast.... Kelsey/Shawn might not be super popular but its not like they didnt have much role in the previous filns they appeared in compare to Daniel Cudmore. Then include Channing, Ryan and the actor they will hire to play Colossus...then I dont see why they would lack in star power. Also I assume if the younger Nightcrawler stays with the X-Men.. he would eventually end up being portrayed by Alan Cumming in the present or future period.

That was in future with sentinles which has been erased along with non-FC films.When wolverine woke up in new future timeline colossus said nothing which gives wiggle room for them In deadpool.

Why? You are apparently stripping one of the strengths of Deadpool as a character, with the pop culture references. And for what benefit? So it could possibly tie into Apocalypse? It makes no sense to me why you would weaken the film just to tie into a different film.

Exactly. Plus GOTG and Apocalypse already have those 80s references. The X-Men frnachise likes to jump around, after Apocalypse who's to say it won't be in the 90s?

The X-Men films shouldn't decide when Deadpool takes place regardless. They can use him in any time period really since he doesn't age.

It looks like they moved it from present to late 70's or early 80's, if it's connected to Apocalypse. That's why there isn't Colossus.

Here's the thing that I think those blinded by the Marvel method are missing. Films don't have to link up to the "main" movie to be part of the universe. Let each film stand on it's own feet. And given that Deadpool is most likely going to be completely different in tone and content (come on R rating...) than Apocalypse, forcing them together is going to weaken some movie. Yes, current day pop culture references are more important than linking up to Apocalypse for this film.

Based on what Reynolds has said about the script, it doesn't sound as if it has been reworked to fit into a completely different time period.

Hasn't every X-Men related film been linked in some way to the previous films in the series? This is nothing new.

With recent talk flash is indeed going to be introduced In BVS as THR said odds are they were right on Colossus in deadpool which means a modern setting with a recast Colossus.

So deadpool Is likely set in present day before the future ending of DOFP.

Colossus can't be in 1980's due to future ending of DOFP.

It's the marvel influence that makes fans believe every solo film will connect to a team movie at some point but Deadpool may end up standing on its own really for 3 movies, and going by fox track record no one says he will see this new recasted colossus again either, well they could go the often done sequel route of bringing back the character for deadpool 2

No. Patrick just said Ian will appear in Apocalypse and hes hinting he might appear in Wolverine 3.

Colossus being recast isnt that surprising since hes getting a bigger role but thats not an indication everybody is being recast.

They likely recast colossus because Daniels acting isn't all that good, presumably why his only real line in DoFP was "mystique" and even that sounded wooden

They probably ain't recasting all the OC because there is no need too but at same time there is no proof to suggest they will be used again in anything more then the odd cast member in a spin off movie

I think they wouldn't have cast such promising young actors for Cyclops, Jean and Nightcrawler if they weren't planning to move forward with them. There might be one more OT cast film but apart from that I don't see them being more than supporting roles in projects like Wolverine 3. I think having past and future teams/timelines will be too confusing for the general audience. I might be totally wrong but that's what I think now.

Ian and Patrick won't be leading the franchise anymore. James and Michael will and that's obvious. It's not that complicated.

You said all the Old cast is gone, they are not. And that's never been confirmed. Only Colossus has been mentioned as being recast in the present/future time.

Deadpool doesn't age, is a part of Weapon X and has a film that requires flashbacks. If they want him in Apocalypse there is no issue here.

However, a Deadpool movie itself does not benefit in any way being in the past. And revolving around a film that as of now has no connection with it seems a bit pointless no?

Who's to say the X-men will stay in the 80's? This series never stays in one decade.
