Deathstroke: Is he in Justice League? If so, who is playing him?

Yes, that's usually what's meant by "similar looking" ;)

Not to mention their names, being hired guns, tussling with the Bat, central relationship and motivation often revolving around their daughter . . .

But yeah, nothing alike, except for a few aesthetics.

Deathstroke is closer to Batman than he is to Deadshot.

Try harder.

Ignore all points made, make throw away dismissal, SUCCESS!

I have no way of proving this, but my general thoughts on the matter are that the only people who liked Suicide Squad are ones who are already aware that Deadshot and Deathstroke are two entirely different characters. People who don't know one from the other are likely general audience members and I doubt most of them would give two sh**s if any Suicide Squad characters were recast.

NO ONE is going to walk out of the theater mixing up Deathstroke, and Batman. There is ABSOLUTELY a possibility that people WILL think he's supposed to be Deadshot.

Talk about needing to try harder.

Billy Wintergreen --> Alfred Pennyworth

Billionaire --> billionaire

World's Greatest Assassin --> World's Greatest Detective

Pushes family away --> pushes family away

Prep master --> prep master

Scares the **** out of the JL --> scares the **** out of the JL

Deathstroke is Batman that grew up on the wrong side of the tracks.

But I feel like they've already removed some of the aesthetic similarities anyway. Deadshot only wore his mask twice in the entire film. It's established that guns are clearly his weapon of choice, whereas Slade is known as the world's greatest swordsman (he uses guns and other weapons too, but swords are his specialty). He's also a one-eyed white guy, who will presumably be older than Will Smith or will at least (probably) have gray hair. Maybe a few people will get them confused but I doubt it would be very many.

Not denying the characters' have similarities.
I'm saying there isn't a remote chance in hell any one will walk out of Justice League, or the solo Batman film, mistaking one for the other.

That is the entire crux of the discussion, and it's undeniable that people can, will, and HAVE mixed up Deadshot and Deathstroke.

Going on about there being more pedantic character parallels between Slade and Bruce is to completely miss the point of the discussion.

If we're talking about a smaller, always masked, role in JL, then most of this doesn't matter. The rest goes into the same column as recasting, and other direction changes, or just out right inconsistency, that WB has made themselves known for with these films. :cwink:

You do realize these are two conflicting statements don't you? :cwink:

If you're color blind I guess. Wait. Even desaturated their masks and color schemes would be vastly different. Hmmm....

not to mention their skin color is different, one is missing an eye, one uses swords, one has a completely different name!! duno how anyone would confuse the two because they both have a mask and shot a gun.

I feel like the people who would confused Deathstroke and Deashot are the same people that confuse the Ninja Turtles or Power Rangers. It'd be too negligible an amount of people to really make a difference, especially because I highly doubt a lot of those folks will even be in the audience.

I don't think anybody is really suggesting that one would be mistaken for the other, but rather that their similarities in design, name, and role may lead to a sense of repetition.

Even still, I don't see most caring. Especially if they're used in different ways. If repetition were really an issue, the CBM genre would've died long ago.

we didnt see much hand to hand with deadshot so i dont think that'll be an issue. deadshot mostly just stood on stuff and pointed his fists at people. Plus snyders style of filming fights vs ayers will make deathstroke stand out much more than deadshot. how affleck will film a fight will be interesting to see though.

Way back when JJ Abrams had Superman Flyby in development he made a Superman suit before anyone had actually been cast. He had a few actors do screen tests in it, (including Jason Behr, Jared Padalecki, and Michael Cassidy) one of which was actually Henry Cavill

Brandon Routh was also one of the actors that did a screen test.

I don't think it's Joe guys. It's a swerve. That guy's body looks too small for Joe.

I do think Joe is going to be in the DCEU, but not as Slade.

The blind stares of a million pairs of eyes
Looking hard, but won't realize
That they will never see the P!
You must be goin' blind
