Nothing like as much, he is a far less important character. This is what I mean about the books being so different. They are also mainly satirical. I haven't finished the third yet. I actually relly am not enjoying it. It's going into mystical territory, I am not keen on for Dexter.

From what I've read about the books, the third book takes a pretty weird approach to the storytelling, even going so far as to introduce a "Force"-like character who serves to motivate Dexter's dark side.

Dexter's already been disturbed in the TV series, just not by anything gory.

yea book 3 sucks until the last like 30 pages...it has its moments though.

Yes! It's very silly

I may not bother to finish it.

also book 3 is 100% diff from 2 and 1, the only thing thats the same is the character names lol

He intellectualises it. Take when he thinks Lundy has sent for him to be arrested. He isn't disturbed himself for himself. Just for theimpact on Deb.

True. Although I think he might've been truly shocked when he started uncovering memories and realized that Harry had lied to him. He intellectualized it afterwards, but in that moment of realization, his whole world seemed to shatter.

Even then, he continues to stick to Harry's Code.

Yeah, but more out of habit until just recently, when he recommitted himself to it.

Well the hell is Harry's Code, anyway? Is it as simple as just killing bad guys and not getting caught?

And blending in, and probably a bunch of specific minutiae about police practices and how to avoid being caught by those.

So basically, killing bad guys and not getting caught.

Eh its not really that cut and dry. While there are rules and teachings of how not to be caught as far as stuff like forensics and leaving evidence behind is concerned, Harry had to teach Dexter basically how to live like the average Joe instead of becoming a sort of recluse.

Anyway, I just read up some more on the "IT" entity of the third book. Weird stuff. From the brief descriptions that I've seen, it sounds really, really stupid.

Jack and Whirly, if you have something to settle, do so in PMs. Let this thread continue without your fight.

ANYWAY...Has anyone alse read the Dexter books? What's the story with this "IT" entity?

anyways back to dexter....it looks like the BHB plot is gonna end next episode

The popularity of this thread is overwhelming. In the beginning we were so few...
