Dexter

While I enjoyed the episode and am sure the finale will be terrific (even though they have a ton to get through), the thing that irked me was....

How flagrantly Dexter discarded Harry's Code in killing Liddy. And how he seemed ready to forget about it again as regards Quinn

Rule number 1 is don't get caught so I'd say Dexter was following it to the letter.

Next week looks brilliant but yeah they have a ton to get through and according to the scenes on Showtime the kids will be in town which means Dex has more ***** to deal with.

I hope Debs finds out, it's about time. They've been hinting at it all season, even in this episode so she better find out.
I hope Quinn stays and sorta becomes our TV Debs 'Chutsky'

yeah the writers backed themselves into a corner with dexter so ready to dispatch quinn, season 2 dex was going to go to jail rather than kill a guy who knew who he was.

The season 5 finale has ALOT to live up to. They killed Rita last season, something BIG needs to happen to top that. I say let Deb find out and leave us hangin til next year.

The question is...how MUCH will Deb find out? Will she find out that Dexter has been killing people for years? That he was the bayharbor butcher? Or will she think that maybe he's just responsible for rapist deaths?

not really. there was already some feud/animosity building up from Season 4. once Dexter saw that the surveilance equipment was rented under Quinn's name he used that as a main reason to take out Quinn once and for all.

Exactly! besides now Dexter has found someone who accepts him for who he is which has blurred the rules sort of. Yes Quinn was technically 'innocent' but he threatened Dex's life with exposure which would do more damage to other people than if Quinn died.

No doubt Dex weighed out the options and thought it better to off Quinn.

That's no different than Doakes in Season 2 the only difference is Quinn is less likable

In season 2 Dexter still found it hard to connect to people emotionally he has grown a lot more since then and learnt to treasure his connections with people.

Debs, Rita, Lumen, Astor, Cody, Harrison - to an extent Sonja!

Back in Season 2 when all this was threatened he barely cared for them, it was a disguise, with the exception of Debs. That is the difference - Dexter has grown since then, that's the whole point! GROWTH!!!
Back then Dexter just didn't want to be caught. In this situation Dexter tried to make sure that everyone he now genuinely cares about was far out of harms way before he attempted to deal with it.

Another great ep. Can't wait for the finale. I watched this OnDemand HD and there wasn't a preview for next weeks ep; is that the way it was for ppl that watched it live?

[blackout]I'm afraid Quinn may go down for Liddy's murder......... the good old blood on his shoes will be the evidence once the PD find out that the survillence equipment was rented out under Quinn's name[/blackout]

That's exactly where they're going to go with the blood on the shoe; and like you said, the equipment is in his name.....but wait, didn't Dex grab all the equipment on the way out, or just the storage devices for the video and audio?

Lol so poor Deb is going to lose another boyfriend. One day she's going to snap and become worse than dexter.

The finale seems to be intense, but I truly hope Quinn doesn't end up dying.

I think he survives but gets framed for Liddy's murder. No alibi because he was, in fact, right there + Liddy's blood on his shoe = easy conviction.

Well, they're gonna have to explain Liddy's body somehow, and Quinn's the most connected to him.

I think you're right...

In the trailer for next week's episode, there is a shot of a hand in plastic gloves holding Quinn's brown shoe, and a shot of Quinn sitting in the interrogation room with his head in his hands.

lol the prediction was right and awesome news that dexter has been renewed for a 6th season.
