I'm still confused why the police wouldn't think it was the Trinity Killer who killed Rita. She was killed in the exact way his past victims have been killed. I thought it would be an open and shut case.

Rita doesn't fit the M.O.. Trinity killed single, young women in the bathtub. Not middle aged mothers (he threw them off of a roof). Considering that Trinity (like most serial killers) is very methodical and very careful its unlikely that he would make a mistake like that and it is very unlikely that he would suddenly change his M.O..

But Arthur obviously changed his M.O. when he killed Rita. And since this is the brother of the Cop that arrested his daughter who then killed herself, it's possible he may have killed Rita to get back at Deb. I am curious where they are going with this, but there is plenty of reason to think Dexter should not be a suspect in Ritas death.

This is the spin that I feel will be placed on Rita's death. Which means, get ready for some Deb guilt.

The show wouldn't be the same without emo Deb :hehe:

The thing that makes him a suspect, besides the spouse always being the prime suspect first, is that he has no alibi. Not to mention Quinn will be all over him. Doesn't Quinn already think Dexter was cheating on Rita?

He really messed up with the Kyle Butler bit. I have no idea how he is going to make it out of this mess.

The trailer showed us that Dexter will be dealing with two main rivals this season.

1) Quinn

2) Guilt.

My prediction for how Dexter shakes the suspiscion over Rita's death and Kyle Butler (being as Quinn seems to be the one who ties Dexter to Butler) is that Dexter kills Quinn. I'm thinking Dexter is going to break the code. He's going to deal with his grief by becoming a full blown monster and killing Quinn.

Just killing Quinn isn't enough. The FBI knew he had been in Arthur's house per the trailer. Arthur's family and friends could identify Dex as well.

Which would make things look even more suss for him. And kind of a bit too much like the Doakes storyline - even though Dexter didn't kill him.

that's where Julia Stiles and Robocop come into play

we don't know what's up with their characters yet

but i don't want Julia Stiles turning into Lila 2.0

one thing for sure is that this upcoming season is going to be insane!

Sure is. I remember thinking how on earth will they top Trinity?
Thankfully it seems they might not be. But instead, just expanding on what was started from season 4...I like that :)

I really want Dexter to tell Debra his secret. Like he is calling out for help.

The reason Deb doesn't turn him in is because he solved the Trinity case and Lundy would have been pleased it to be over with. Then Deb is kinda the force trying to get Dexter out of the dark whilst covering his ass from Doak... i mean Quinn.

Yes, but Dexter has unintentionally brought her a lot of the painful issues that as she would say has f***ed her up.

Brian the Ice Truck killer.

Her father never giving her the time of day because he was so focused on Dexter.

Her friend Doakes' death.

Dexter being the real Bay Harbour butcher.

Yeah but i think the last season she has grown a lot more as a character and would accept far more than she would have in past seasons.
Plus i think it is the next step in her character arc, that kind of battle of morality.

From that clip of Dexter i really get the vibe of the kids having a dark passenger starting to emerge with the whole "Rita was their only hope."

I hope that Dexter goes on for more than the six seasons.

I guess...but I always thought the show would eventually lead to a Dexter vs Deb scenario.

Dexter is a forensics expert, from their perspective he'd know HOW to make it look like a Trinity killing.

I wonder if this series will end with people realizing Dexter is the Bay Harbour Butcher. I feel bad that Doakes will remembered as a murderer. I want them to clear his name by the end of the series.

Ever since the first season, this show is the best. I have huge hopes for the new season since season 2 is still my favorite of them all (yeah, more than season4, tough Lithgow was the man!) and the new season looks to be more like season 2. Dexter is the hunted...I like that.

Yeah, Doakes did not deserve what happened to him. I wonder if the now conscience striken Dexter will feel guilt over what he did to Doakes? He may not have killed him, but he imprisoned him (allowing him to be defenselessly killed) and set him up for a manhunt.
