as much as I'd love to see
dead. I don't think I'm gonna be that lucky.
I have this familiar recent memory, that tells me that her death and KK's leaving the show, is just a clever bit of PR. Anybody who watches Battlestar Galactica, knows what I'm talking about. For those who don't, the production team of BSG, basically 'fired' (in essence) Katee Sackoff, who plays starbuck. But it was all a PR stunt, in order to kill her character, and then bring her back to life in the season finale.
Now, seeing that Smallville, and BSG are all shot on the same lot in vancouver (resulting in the talent crossover between shows that happens often enough), I wouldn't find it hard to believe if the SV producers had borrowed this idea of the 'killing the character/firing the actor' misdirection ploy.
And I would not find it hard to believe, in the universe that smallville operates in, that Lana would fake her death, in front of Lionel, to be free of the Luthors once and for all. Very reminicent of when Lex helped Chloe to 'die' in order to bring down Lionel... now Lionel may be helping Lana to 'die' in order to protect her from Lex, as well as all the villains that are going to come looking for Clark sooner or later (this theory all hinges on this)
It seems like Lionel, as the emissary of Jor'el, is helping Clark to shed those things he clings too, so that Clark can essentially grow up. Lionel has motivated Mama Kent to leave the farm. And if Lionel has faked Lana's death... it kills two birds with one stone, Lana is safe and away from Lex, and Clark and Lana are seperated (which was always one of Jor'el's issues when he was around, that Clark is too close to his human companions, and that it is affecting his growth as a superhero).
that's it
great finale, loved the tie in with the MMH
