Smallville is an elseworlds series and should be treated as such. After all the writers have done theres no point in trying to end the series to coincide with comics/movies. Everyones thinks chloe and lionel have to die, or that clark should start wearing glasses they dont. Theres no way lex wouldnt know who superman was after all he's been through with clark. He's aready battle half his rougues gallery, met most of the justice league, and more are probably on the way. So give the fans what they want redem lex, pair clark with chloe/lois/lana/,let him fly, go all out. Just make it good and surprise us.

I don't care how they handle the story, as long as three main things stay the same:

Clark will become SUPERMAN
Clark will end up with LOIS
Clark's arch enemy will be LEX

:supes:

This is the way I would like them to end the series.

Start like half way through the last season, show a huge threat (maybe like Darkseid) heading torwards earth and Clark is doing his training. Then maybe like the last or four or three episodes show Darkseid invading Earth and we see members of the JLA (the ones we know of now, Aquaman, GA, Cyborg, Flash, MM) try to take him on and when Darkseid has beaten them he claims there is no one on this pathetic planet that could stop him.

On the second to last episode Clark shows up dressed like :supes: and take Darkseid on and beats Darkseid thus giving Darkseid the hatered for Superman.

WORD !!!!!!!!!

I agree that this should be seen as a Elseworld tale and that it doesn't and shouldn't need to follow the comics/ movies/Tv or any other Superman franchise that came before it, but certain things need to happen for the story to have any legitmacy in my eyes, for one he needs to become Superman, not nessciarly on the show but they obviously can't end without his path being clear, Lex needs to be evil or at least clearly heading that way. He needs to show a real enthusianism for Journalism and he should wear glasses.

Now as for who he's paired with, if anybody, what most people don't understand is that he can end up with Lana or Chloe but that doesn't mean he ends up with her ultimately. I know on TV that is always implied but at the end of the show, likely Season 7 he will only be 22, being in a relationship at 22 doesn't mean he marries that girl, I'm sure that plenty of people were in relationships at 22 that didn't last to 23, why should he be different.

you guys and your "elseworlds" tales...Any live action depiction is gonna be different from the comics yet for some reason it helps the comic nazi's sleep at night to categorize Smallville as an "elseworlds" and repeat it ad nauseum.....Technically every incarnation of the legend is an "elseworlds" tale except for Seigel and Shuster's original version, thats almost unrecognizable now. Helll whats in continuity now will eventually be retconned out and become an "elseworlds" in 20 years just like Byrne's "Man of Steel" has basically been.

SV is an elseworlds as were all 5 Superman films, Lois & clark, Superman: TAS, etc. etc. etc.

Hulk your right, but i think in terms of elseworlds they just mean smallville has deviated from all the other versions [which stuck closer to the basic story] so much it is unreconizible to alot of superman readers. If smallville keeps on its current path, Clark won't have a secret identity, he won't become a reporter, but he will accept his "destiny" and become "the savior of earth".

^I know which is why I am tired of people complaining about clarks glasses, luthors in smallville, and other stuff.

I hope something like that happens.

Best. Typo. Ever!!!!

I think Hulk meant, "Siegel," but depending on whom you ask, no correction may be necessary.

I don't mind any of the elseworld aspects, I just wish Lex would be smart :(

He hasnt got jack, Smallville has diverted so much from the main source that theres no other route than to base it as an else world tale. If i started to list all the flaws smallville has made well lets just say you will be sat at your computer screen reading all day.

With that said i to watch smallville and i enjoy it, just sometimes when i am watching that the little bits dig at you the most painfull was Lois coming to smallville it wasnt needed as shes only a backgroung character most of the time.

LOL then pray tell, what's the "main source?" The comics that reinvent themselves every other year and redo the "official" canon when they feel like it? Is this Siegel's source? Donner's? Byrnes? Timm's? Loeb's? Waid's? Singer's?

Smallville's done what every other incarnation of the legend has done, which is take the basic tenants of the character:

1. last son of krypton sent to earth and found by the kents and raised with good moral fiber.
2. given powers by the earth's yellow sun
3. decides to use his powers to protect mankind
4. Lex Luthor is his arch enemy

and then expanded upon them. That's how the characters grown and endured over 70 years. It's always been a fluid legend, especially in the comics.Trying to link any incarnation to another's continuity is a foolish proposition.

Just to add what Hulk said: Even your precious comics are not in continuity with each other. Every iteration usually covers the basics of the character, which Smallville has done.

Look at the comics, Superman has several different takes on his origin, just in the comics, some of them contradicting the others. Every twenty years, DC destroys their continuity and starts over. It's just the way it is, what is wrong with another take on the character by other writers? It's just the way the business goes.

As far as flaws, the comics also has them, as does ANY other media involving this character. You can't escape it.

Lois being in Smallville: the comics did it first
Lex knowing Clark in Smallville: the comics did it first, then redid it in Birthright. (Another origin story that contradicted most of the known continuity)
Many of Superman's villains showing up early: The comics did that too.
Superman having a kid: well...only one person made that snafu, and unfortunately it's carrying over into the comics, but some writer will come along eventually and take care of that for us.

There are errors in all the media, why people focus so much on things Smallville does, I'll never know.:whatever:

Preach!!!:woot:

um, the very fact that its television and not the comic renders it an "elsewords" tale. or did infinite crisis not take care of that?
