Smallville is an elseworlds series and should end that way

Well for me presonally before season 6

Smallville did a 180 on all the Superman releated characters

THE BIG THREE [In The superman mythology] - Lane, Kent, & Luthor

The Adopted parents - Jonathan & Martha Kent

The Biological Father - Jor-EL

Krypton & Kal-EL's Destiny

etc....

Unlike the other incarnation of Superman [smallville went beyond the basic Clark Kent life in smallville etc...

Between the

1. Krypto- freaks [from season 1 - 4]

2. His damn love life as a teenager

3. Runing away from his Destiny [deyning his true hertiage and father.]

Before this season I had a very hard time believing this boy would ever become SUPERMAN.

The writters just mess up his character so bad, As a huge fanboy of his adult counter part self, I just couldn't stand watching him. [the only reason i continued to watch was seeing Lex Luthor become more evil and Lois Lane journey from the army brat to Ace Reporter [and the love of SUPERMAN/Kal-EL/Clark kent's life.]

Admittedly, I haven't heard you complain much at all since this season has started. But like you said, they have really started pushing his attitude as Superman this season.

This season is so far the best season. Thier getting closer towards SUPERMAN.

The much needed character devlopment for [Lois Lane, Clark Kent & Lex Luthor] is bring them one step closer towards their ultimate Destiny .

less Smallville, More Metropolis

More Superman mythology based stories .

I have to agree although I wish they would write GA more like post crisis GA I have to say this is the best season they had in a long time IMO.

Why is Metron changing Kingdom Come Superman into Superman from "Whatever happened to the man of tommorow"?
because thats not Kingdom Come Superman. That was Superman from "Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow?" You have to read the first arc of the book and the last two arc's they had to understand it better.

I agree but hey I am still upset that for the last Superman story (Whatever happened to the man of tomorrow) DC didn't let Siegel and Shuster to do it after they said they would love to write that book and was asked to write it as well.:cmad:

I'm not gonna say how I WISH it would end...because it won't happen.

But what I predict will happen when the series finally ends is that we will NEVER see Clark in the Superman outfit. We'll see the costume and we'll see him...but never together...it'll probably end with Clark packing up and we'll see the costume go into a suitcase and see him moving out of Smallville.

The end.

On the end of SV and how long the show will last:

"I say seven seasons. It seems to be what shows in this genre can do and do well. Certainly in our case suddenly you're bumping up against 'Why the [bleep] isn't he putting on the suit?' I say that's probably a good number. Will it end with him putting on the suit? And Lex making that last step to evil? Yeah, absolutely."

As Batman said in Batman Returns

"Things Change!"

^ LMAO!!! OMG! Remember that. ;)

Oh, and unless you have a new quote from Gough establishing a change in how they will end SV, nothing has changed.

Yeah and I believe that quote was from only a couple of months back.

Will a quote from Mr. Welling do?

Then Voth reminds me that I have time for one more question. With Welling's encouragement, I ask it: "Will we ever see Clark Kent don the red cape and become Superman?"

"No," he says emphatically. "This show will always be about Clark Kent. The transition to Superman is so catastrophic that it's a whole new show once he starts flying around."

That interview took place only a month ago. It's as recent as it gets.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, chances are, we probably will see the suit in the Series Finale but not in the way certain people are expecting...

Lets try this again...

The show will remain to be about Clark Kent. Welling agrees.

At the end of the show, Clark Kent will don the tights and become Superman. Gough confirms.

Will we see it? Umm... hello? Not pointing any fingers here, but I think it takes a special kind of stupid to argue they won't actually SHOW Clark BE Superman after 150+ hours of original programming over the course of seven years.

Once it happens though, the show is over. So whatever they give us - shirt rip/rescue, flying out of the FOS in full regalia ala Reeve, whatever - the scene will most likely take place in the very last act of the very last episode.

Ok. I'd accept that Smallville is a new telling of Superman's origins that isn't meant to be the same as the comics, movies, etc. But to me, it seems the writers are making everything up as they go along.

First you have the Kryptofreaks, mutations caused by Kryptonite. Fair enough, though it was overdone. Then it turns out Kryptonite can damn near do anything. That's a bit much for an element that was just meant to be Clark's only weakness.

Then there's the cave. Ancient Kryptonian markings and artifacts on Earth? And then you have all this stuff about prophecies and magical daggers and witches. Krypton was a very technologically advanced world, not a magical world.

Jor-El is a controlling, boarderline evil tyrant. That's not a Jor-El I've ever known. Then suddenly those stones turn out to be the crystal that builds the fortress, and THEN Jor-El starts sounding like the good natured man we all know. And they try to make out like it was all a test. Some test. A girl was killed(kara) and Jonathan was left with a bad heart because of him. And then for some screwy reason Jor-El takes Clark's powers away, just because he doesn't return to the fortress.

I dunno, but it seems to me Jor-El is making stuff up as he goes along, just like the writers. He's evil, good, it turns out the evil crap was just a test, Clark is punished for going to stop the Kryptonians by having his power taken away. WTF?

Then there's all the surprise guest appearances and new cast members who don't belong in Clark's life yet. They even made Jimmy the same age as Clark. That was never the point of his character. He might aswell get a new name.

Point is, this isn't some elseworlds telling of the Superman mythos by some genius writers. They're looking for ratings, just like every other show, and they'll do anything to shock us all into watching. Hey, I like being shocked, but they're stepping all over the Superman story in the process. If they did have some grand plan, they wouldn't have suddenly changed Krypton in season 5 to being like the movie version.

I dunno who you're responding to with that, but if it's me, I don't see what it has to do with what I said. I know he's gonna eventually become Superman. My point is they didn't have some plan. They didn't even want to do a Superman related show at first. In the beginning, the show was more a compromise than anything.

One thing I will say in their defence is, the Smallville era of Superman's life isn't exactly rich with storytelling potential, that is unless we're talking about the adventures of Superboy or whatever. There's not enough room to really work your own stories and ideas into the show without contradicting part of the established mythos. Now, if this were a Superman story, a story not about the past but about the present, they'd have more breathing room and could take Superman in more directions.

I was responding to BenReilly19, Lead Cenobite.

It doesn't, which means those last few posts probably weren't in response to you. ;)

My point was genius, that I think the ending will be more or less a tease.

Thanks, Kai! ;)

There was also an interview with James Marsters in the last Smallville Magazine. James says that he and Tom were having a discussion one day about how the series would end and Tom said that he thinks that they'll have one scene at the very end with him in the suit. :supes:

I might shed a tear if I see that actually happening on the show. :o
