The Amazing Spider-Man 2 Did too many trailers ruin the movie?

I enjoyed both TASM films but I certainly felt the trailers gave too much away, I wasn't left with many surprises and kinda figured most of what was going to happen in the film.

Yeah I loved the movie but nothing really supirsed me or cought me off guard.

I'll start off by saying I liked the movie.

Now, I don't know if it was too much trailers. But I think if they hadn't tipped their hand with Harry being the Goblin and there being a Rhino scene in the movie, it would have been a big surprise factor and really been a huge point of emphasis.

Imagine going into the theaters thinking Electro is the focal point of the movie while knowing that Harry Osborn was playing a role too, but you had no idea Harry would turn into the Goblin and you had no idea that the movie would end with the Rhino scene. I think they showed too much. If they would've done what I just said, I think more people would've been pleasantly surprised.

I agree with this completely. I think people especially "fans" would have come away from the film feeling much better had they just been surprised with Gwens death, Goblin and a Rhino cameo AS WELL as the Doc Arms and Vulture Wings. Keep all that a secret while selling the movie as Spidey versus Electro and you immediately get people excited about the film instead of feeling like well, yeah that played out exactly as expected from what we were shown. Studios are ignorant to the positive response to the element of surprise these days.

Yeah, imagine how much people would have been fanboying if we didn't know about the sinister six easter eggs, imagine if we just thought the film was Spidey vs Electro, didn't even get a hint of Gwen's death or Harry Goblin. Would have been a great twist.

If Sony had waited 2 months after the release of the films to announce the sequels, I'm pretty confident a lot of reviews wouldn't have been complaining about worldbuilding as much.

This.

I hope they learn from their mistakes for TASM3 when deciding what exactly to reveal before the film's release.

i agree with that, i hope the next movie has a trailer without too many spoilers.

I know what I'm not gonna do!

Watch any trailers or read any TASM3 spoilers.

I Hated how they showed how Gwen dies in the trailers. We thought she was gonna die at the bridge because of the set pics but then of course they had to f it up and show the whole scene! i reckon it wouldve been more of a surprise if we were expecting her to die at the bridge. i was also pissed how they practically showed the whole goblin battle.
