Die Hard 5

"16 Blocks" Bruce Willis sans (or with, I don't mind) moustache would've been the way to make me believe they were trying to capture John McLane again and not his superhero cousin.

in a way, 16 Blocks sort of feels like a Die Hard movie

In a way, yeah. That and the Last Boyscout. What a quadrilogy, eh? DH1, DH3, Last Boyscout and 16 Blocks. I might give that marathon a shot some day.

The 1st and 4th are easily my favourites, McClane is pretty much a superhero in them all though. I can't find any enthusiasm for this 5th outing sadly.

I saw this video long ago But this is the best DH tribute music video!(although it's missing Live Free)

My personal ranking of the films would be..

Die Hard
Die Hard with a Vengeance
Live Free or Die Hard
Die Hard 2(I like it But I just think it's my least favorite of the series so far)

I'd remove that video due to the strong language at the end.

theres a version that includes Live Free

I really hope they nail it this time...

I don't see why they WOULDN'T nail it. They have nothing to lose. The public isn't demanding these movies anymore, so why not do as much as you can to make it a true Die Hard movie? Go crazy. Go out with a bang. Take risks, take BIG risks, saying "Ah hell, it's probably the last one, so **** it."

^ I guarantee you, that attitude would get this movie some SERIOUS bank.

I didn't care for Live Free. I don't care for the idea that these movies need to expand in their environments/settings. I've said from the beginning: scale it back.

THIS movie is shaping up to be a complete mess, a turd. And if it flops for its light and fluffy PG-13 without the Yippie Kai Yay Mother ******, it will be sad that THIS one has to finally kill the series.

I just don't get it. Why make it if it isn't Die Hard? That's like making a Superman movie without an 'S' on his chest; like Superman just flies around with a plain blue torso.

There's only so many different but still interesting confined environments to use and a bunch of other movies used those. Die Hard did the office building and airport. Under Siege did a military ship and a train. Executive Decision and Air Force One and Passenger 57 did airplanes. How many cool and unique places are left?

To dunno, to me it's more about John finding himself in a terrible situation and being the only guy who can do anything about it. I find the continuing adventures of McClane far more interesting than yet another palette swap of the same formula that made the first movie so awesome.

The biggest problem is that the director is John Moore who has never really directed a good movie. I think his only actual hit was the Omen remake.

I highly disagree that McLane is superhero in all of the movies. In 1 and 3 he's just a cop, despite some action scenes in those movies being a bit... excessive (albeit in a good way). It's when they try and make him a superhero that they fail. DH5 looks to be building up to what DH4 did with him... which is the absolutely wrong way to go with the character.

Pretty much.

Was it a hit? I didn't follow its BO news. It was a terrible movie, though.

To be fair, though, only DH2 did that. DH4 seemed to loosely follow the formula of DH3 and now DH5 seems to be going even bigger.

Russia is a whole new country for McClane with new types of enemies and he'll interact with his son who gets a bigger role than his daughter and is suppose to be even more bad-a**than John,If this this is John McClane's last film as the main star then Willis will want to go out with a bang..So I full expect this one to go full-out crazy!!!

The casting news is good so far, Cole Hauser should definitely make for a good villain. He succeeds in playing slimy, hateful antagonists.

More join the cast...

Additionally, Variety reports that Amaury Nolasco (Prison Break) and Megalyn Echikunwoke (House of Lies) have joined the supporting cast of A Good Day to Die Hard. John Moore is onboard to direct, and the story finds Bruce Willis’ John McClane teaming up with his estranged son (Jai Courteney) in Russia. Nolasco will be playing Willis’ friend in the pic, but details of Echikunwoke’s role are currently under wraps. Filming on A Good Day to Die Hard is currently under way, and the film is slated to open on February 13th, 2013.

Damn, I read Alan Rickman and for a moment my heart stopped.

Bigger doesn't mean better. The best action film this year only took place in a building: The Raid. Small setting, big stakes.

Here, I just hope we don't see Super McClain from Die Hard 4 because that's not the point of the character. McClain is suppose to be the everyman who relunctly saves the day despite the odds. No matte how crazy it is. In Die Hard 4 was just gloss and McClain's heroism was overplayed and joyless.

Are you kidding me? I'd rather actually die hard in a thai ****e house!

Super McClane is in all 4 movies, that argument is the weakest of all the ones trying to denigrate the 4th film.

It's all about the characterization, not the action feats. He's much more human under McTiernan.
