Discuss what you LIKED about X3

Is there something wrong with me? Am I just too easy to please?

X3 haters like LastSunrise1981 would say that you have low standards, and that you're "willing to accept mediocracy"...

As the movie is, although I think you gave the movie credit for some of it's flaws (I.E. it's "perfect pacing" and "great script", both of which I feel were weaknesses of this film) you are absolutley right.

The acting is brilliant. The character moments are there, and people's unwillingness to see and accept them does not make them non-existent. And they are just as emotional and powerful as the character moments in X-Men and X2. What the difference is, is that Singer had more character moments, not neccesarily better. But this is the 3rd part of a trilogy, we should know these characters by now. Just how X2 upped the action from X-Men, X-Men: The Last Stand upped the action from X2. It did not neglect character. Although I will admit there should have been a touch more.

The action was X-Men action at it's finest, something that Singer never delivered with X-Men or X2. X2 had some flashes of brilliance with the action (Nightcrawler's White House invasion, Magneto's prison escape, Stryker's raid of the Mansion), but overall it just wasn't exciting. None of the action captured the X-Men like the X-Men leaping down into battle, theme music blaring, and lining up on the battlefield across from the Brotherhood!

I think Ratner had a better balance of character and action. X-Men and X2 were great because of their well developed characters, but there wasn't much action. X-Men: The Last Stand found a very good balance between character and action. It did also have the luxury of having 2 movies of character before it, so it could back off a bit... I don't know that the character of X-Men: The Last Stand would have worked for a first installment. But I think it balanced character and action better than the previous 2. For that, I think it might be my favorite of the 3, despite not thinking anything close to that after I saw it the first time

Why do I like X3?

It's fun to watch. More fun to watch than X1 or Superman Returns anyways.

all the scores of this movie are fantastic. its the only movie out of the 3 i bought the soundtrack for and downloaded lol

only score i loved in x2 was just Nightcrawlers intro and i dont remember any scores i loved in x1 so that prob means it didnt stand out much for me lol
I like Logan and Rogue and The X-jet in X1. I love the suite of X2. And I love the whole X3 soundtrack, all of its seconds.

I like Jeans choir in the end.

Duh nah nah nah NUH NUH NUH danananana!

OMG I love it too. But I specially love when, in "The Last Stand", that futuristic beat part starts, right before the "Duh nah nah nah NUH NUH NUH danananana" part. It always bring me chills. Also in Phoenix Rises when she fully goes Phoenix near the end... "Duh NUH NAH dah nah nah nah nah nah naaah nah naaaaaaaaaah" and Whirlpool of Love...Ohhhhhhh

**** yeah.

lol at the entire score being "Nuh na na nuh, danananana"

haha

Just funny.

But I agree, X-Men: The Last Stand has the best score of all 3 of the films. "Dark Phoenix's Tragedy" (Xavier vs. Phoenix) and "Phoenix Rises" (Phoenix rising at Alcatraz) are absolutley beautiful.

"Bathroom Credits" (the main theme) and "The Last Stand" (from Jean's death through the credits) are also amazing. And I love the theme song blaring in the background as Cyclops drives on his motorcycle to Alkali Lake. It's the second half of "Meet Leech, Then Off To The Lake".

And the end part of "The Last Stand", also the piece that plays when you pull up the Brotherhood menu on the DVD... it's absolutley beautiful.

Hulk's will be always my favourite...Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha Ha HaHa Ha Ha Ha Ha...

Magneto and Beast. My two favourite characters in this movie. They had the best scenes too.

Jean's Phoenix was good as well. Though she didn't have nearly enough lines. Alot of the time she just stood there silently while Magneto chewed the scenery.

I loved Beast as well, but Wolvie was, is and will always be my favorite X-Man. Do people just not like Hugh Jackman's dead on performance of Wolverine.

no we don't like that he takes every scene. there are other characters as well that we like more

^ Thats not really hugh jackman's fault then, its the writers who made it so wolvie had the bigger role in all 3 movies. But i agree jackmans performance was amazing, he did it so well, although in x3 i think it should have been cyclops to save jean bt whatever.
I think it is time for the less characters to step into the limelight. Course there are loads of characters so it will be impossible for them all to have decent airtime but i think you should see more interaction esp with the xkids. Id love to see Jubilee in the battles, colossus interacting with the kids more, a good role for kitty, hey even gambit. This is just my opinon, so feel free to disagree if you will.

Whats ironic is one of the writers (Simon) doesnt even like Wolverine. Atleast thats what it sounds like when you watch the movie with the commentary. Im assuming the other writer does becouse he said he named his son Logan.

The Good:

Displays of Power – Phoenix, Professor Xavier, Wolverine and Storm were all handled perfectly.
The Pace and Story – The flow of the film was superb. Your attention was grabbed right from the first scene and it never was relinquished. This is a bad bathroom break movie because there was never a good time to take your eyes off the screen.
Acting – Juggernaut’s ham up aside, there’s not one weak scene in the entire film in terms of performance. Everyone came to play. Kelsey brought credibility to a blue hairy ape. Marsden’s anguish in his few scenes really stood out. Sir Ian stole just about every scene. Even Halle Berry toned it down. Her eulogy was maybe the most moving part of the film.
Beast – The look, attitude and presence, I just loved everything about this new character.
Two of The Greatest Scenes in Sci-Fi history – The Phoenix/Xavier scene as Magneto looks on in horror while Wolverine and Storm battle the Brotherhood could be the highlight of this entire trilogy. I don’t know if the bridge movement and final battle can be considered one long scene but it was amazing nonetheless.
Special Effects – Most (not all) were absolutely amazing.

All great points.

The cast is still perfect.

The SFX was beyond remarkable.

The story carried weight and was set above average summer fare.

Forget comic continuity, X3 topped any non-Marvel comic based film EVER made.

thats one of my favorites..Spider-man 1 & 2 have da best score...opening title are incredible.....

X3 has an absolute fabulous score. I love the X-Men's theme and the Brotherhood's theme. Everytime I see the X-Men arriving at Alcatraz, seriously, I get goosebumps because it goes back to seeing the X-Men arriving at Liberty Island. We see them as a formidable team, ready to kick @$$.

I liked the idea of expanding the role of Kitty...Ellen was awesome imo. Also, Callisto was an interesting addition...she got more lines than Arclight and Psylocke (unsure if they actually had any, lol). I liked her (Callisto) as the addition of the new tough girl baddie
