🇺🇸 Discussion: General Election 2024, 🥥 VS 🍊

US News
We can talk all about the coulda shoulda wouldas regarding the campaign. But it is nearly impossible to fight this degree of willful ignorance. Fighting back against far right propaganda online and on TV should be job one if it isn’t already too late.
Honestly, it's doubtful Democrats have an idea about what to do.

This situation with right propaganda online has been a thing for several years, but Democrats didn't do anything to fight back it.

Was going to say, a coworker of mine and a friend both received those texts, just when you think humanity can not go lower, plus i work in urban part of town that is 90% black and minority, there is a white guy driving up and down the roads with a Trump 2024 flag on his truck so he knows exactly what he is doing and to whom he is doing it to.

Could the Civil Rights Act be overturned under Trump's 2nd term? Is that a possibility given he's controlling the Supremacist Court, and what would that look like?

The leopards' jaws are going to get tired from eating so many faces for the next four years.

While i am trying really hard to be optimistic and hoping alot was just campaign bluster, with the new world order taking control, nothing seems off limits with these people.

But I’m supposed to believe racism and misogyny didn’t affect the election.

Give me a break.

Hopefully Trump drops below 50% of the popular vote as more vote comes in from CA and other places, as that would be a simple plurality and not a majority.

National : President: general election : 2024 Polls

Some of the more accurate pollsters had Trump leading the popular vote in the full field by 1 point in the last week or so of the election. His margin is 3.0 points right now, it would take going down to <1.5 and below for that to happen.

I feel like if they try going too far with it, such as taking away the Civil Rights Act....that would backfire. In a mass violence way. I am hoping they don't try to go that far.

Could it happen or is it an unfounded fear? Nothing seems off the table now though. He did also say he'd use the military against his opponents so even if there were mass violence, if he has generals loyal to him like they were to Hitler, then what's to stop him?

One would've thought it unthinkable to even be discussing the Civil Rights Act being repealed before, but here we are today.

Harris really needed that second debate and Trump dodging it helped him win undecideds in the closing weeks of the election.

I don't think it will fall under 50%.

Public polls have understated Trump's support in the previous elections. That's why Democrats should have been pretty worried when public polls said Harris and Trump were on tie (but many people preferred to believe polls were overcorrecting on Trump's favor).

In the Bush years, Air America was created by wealthy philanthropists because they knew there was a media problem.

Al Gore helped launch Current TV.

We're right back where we were in 2004. Except it's new internet media that leftists, liberals, progressives, and Democrats are getting crushed at.

There are some around, like Meidas News and Raw Story and stuff like that, not so much in the video streaming and audio space.

Even though Harris won the debate, since she failed so badly in the election then it's tantamount to her having lost that debate effectively. Because whether her performance was good or not, that seems to matter little because it's more about how effective it was in persuading people to vote for her.

No, her best numbers in the exit poll came in September which is when the debate was held and the discussion afterword. Her worst numbers came from the last couple of weeks before the election. A second debate would have preceded those last weeks by being held on October 23.

So these are things we need to be aware of direct from Trump, he wants generals like what Hitler has so expect purges of military high command, from generals all the way down to captains, replacing commanders who are loyal to the constitution with Trump loyalist, he has also said he will arrest journalist and political opponets, so if i am a democrat or republican who opposed Trump, i would be worried.

I mean, they can try it if they want mass violence in the streets and to start a second Civil War. I don't think they're that stupid

Trump is a very low IQ person. A stupid imbecile with the lowest IQ in the history of all presidents. So he would be that stupid.

But he couldn't do that himself. I think the people here are dumb, but I don't think he would get enough dumb people for that to happen. And if he tried doing it, like I said, that would end bloody. Probably for him as well. So I don't think that is realistic. The Republicans have the advantage in the legal realm. They will pass laws that will make things difficult I am sure aimed at suppressing that same population. But if they do something as big and as outlandish as repealing the Civil Rights Act, that won't end well. They would be taking the fight into a realm where they think they would have the advantage. But they don't. Like in A Bug's Life, there are more Ants than Grasshoppers
