🇺🇸 Discussion: General Election 2024, 🥥 VS 🍊

US News
So the counter to Bernie's argument is look at Jon Tester and Sherrod Brown when it comes to Dems need to pay more attention to working class voters. Those 2 may have voted for legislation that aimed to help them, but circumstances made it so it never got passed. If the voters don't feel the effects of your agenda, then they're not going to vote for you.

A big problem is that even if they personally benefit from legislation, Americans will vote against their self interests if they think some group they hate is also benefitting.

Before the 2016 election I read and watched news articles and videos about the affordable care act and the transformative impact it had on poor white rural communities in Appalachia. People in West Virginia and Kentucky who had never seen a dentist and only saw a doctor at ER visits were receiving needed preventative care. All the folks interviewed were voting for Trump though hoping he wouldn’t take the ACA away. They sounded an awful lot like immigrants in this last election.

Elon talked about Americans facing pain, and maybe that’s what needs to happen to get the brain dead voting public to vote for competent leadership.

Many Republicans don't know the ACA is Obamacare either.

Biden not dropping out and the Dems telling us all is well and Gaza hurt her...
I do think the short Campaign of Harris was a good idea, but Biden should have dropped out sooner yeah.
Then we have of course Harris not taking a clear stance on the Gaza situation...which i can get because she still is VP under Biden, so its not good to throw him under the bus there.

Not telling the common folks better about the inflation, the economy etc was a big mistake.
Seeing now how utterly uninformed the common voter is in america, came as a shock for me.
On that, the Left has to start building their own Networks to counter the right wing propaganda and lies...since the mainstream media is useless.

The fact that most more openly left democrats have been elected, should tell Democrats all.
But seeing how their idea is to cater more to the right, i guess they havent learned the lesson so far.

That is one silverlinning in this.
A ton of the people Trump choose so far, are annoying, with musk being at the top.
Trump will get annoyed by these people, especially when America runs out of money and all fast and cant do many things Trump has in mind.
Undermining each other etc, infighting...its the one thing that can stop Trumps term a bit.
These people need to fight, need to be angry...and they want power...that will lead to fighting...which could protect the people somewhat if they are too busy fighting.
Hope she sues him for assault. And theft, too, since he stole her phone for some reason, I think.
From what i gather, she does.
This couldnt happen to a worse person.
He ran his mouth so hard and now has to hide in his Mothers basement and flinch every time the doorbell rings.
I hope women keep this energy up and go after every guy who treats women bad, sends rape threats etc.

Maybe you are right, but I struggle to stomach the fact that politics has devolved into just another sporting event where people get emotionally involved in the success or failure of a person or organization that neither knows you or cares about you. But people get dressed up in their game day gear and harass the other side’s fan base. Go into Eastern Kentucky and you will find rabid support for the UK Wildcats and for Trump. Venture into Calhoun Georgia and it’s all Bulldogs, MTG and Trump. And there is no thought to any of it. You vilify those who oppose you and you live and die by the success or failure of your guys who you support and cheer for.

News outlets are just another substitute for ESPN at this point. It’s all entertainment.

We are past the breaking point on this. The track is out but we keep going full speed ahead.

We may be able to survive another 4 years of Trump as a nation, but we won’t survive the apathy that led to his rise.

I've discovered these days that too many democrats turn pretty elitists when they're angry.

The last example I've seen:

Americans are stupid. I don't know if it will matter. The midterms will tell.

It's so interesting to see those certain white liberals on twitter show their true colors. Turns out a lot of them never care for minority issues to begin with.

This is actually kind of crazy though...the gap between the educated and educated, how they vote. Insane. We're being held hostage by morons.
