🇺🇸 Discussion: General Election 2024, 🥥 VS 🍊

US News
We often have a lot of people complaining that election is too long, this time we finally had people complaining it was both too long and short.

This election should go some way to making more obvious that taking time to pick good, right nominee is important let alone worthwhile, though there obviously can't be that if people are unwilling to challenge incumbent, although OTOH how much particular nominee matters is still unclear, whether any Democrat could have won, that a lot of voters instead vote based just on issues or just on general mood/reaction to general country conditions.

I think to a large extent politics in the '90s, even somewhat to '04 was considered by most young people to be pretty uncool and questionably valuable, I can see why having celebrity endorsements like Springsteen, Pearl Jam could be energizing/mobilizing then, then with the Iraq war and the financial crisis most young people agreed it was still nonetheless at least pretty important and that has mostly persisted.

This time I don't think celebrity endorsements had much influence either way, with Trump for 8/9 years celebrities had gone really overwhelmingly against him for so long but it was still kind of notable that such a huge star, and one who had very wide appeal as Taylor Swift was willing to endorse could generate a little excitement. There can be some backlash from rich people urging what to do and who to choose but I think there are still more who are genuine fans, will at least respect when they make a choice even not following it, most people who would be pretty resentful know the general preference and would be offput even if celebrities aren't active or vocal.

Stimulus check for what? So stupid.
Probably in anticipation of the next pandemic that will inevitably be unleashed upon this country at some point during the next four years, due to the fact that RFK Jr will be in charge of Health and Human Services. :(

They think Trump and the government gave them that money for no reason.

‘Covid’s a hoax, vaccines are bad, where’s muh (puny) Donny Bucks?’

This reminds me that people had no idea Biden did Covid19 stimulus as well but unlike Trump didn’t put his name on it.

At best pretty unlikely that those would have actually happened.

A lot of women are pretty strongly against abortion and don't like, appreciate the response of Well then you don't get an abortion, I really don't see how Walz would be considered extreme on the issue but for many he was, and even a lot more are ambivalent about the issue to that they feel it should be legal but the economy is more important.
