Discussion: Health And Healthcare III

I think that's the general consensus. How Sanders and Warren frame the "Medicare For All" proposal is being recontextualized by the media and people are misunderstanding the long-term goal. The purpose is for the public offering to be just as good as your private option so you eventually transition to this alternative without any hiccups. The GOP is doing a great job suggesting that people will lose their current doctors and benefits when this is a blatant lie.

It appears to be working:

Bernie and Liz need to make it clear the end goal is to replace corrupt, complex, and unfair private insurance with better coverage system.

Coverage of all 13 routine childhood vaccinations for the under-fives has fallen in the past year, figures show.

NHS data for 2018-19 showed uptake of the first dose of the MMR vaccine fell from 91.2% to 90.3% in England - the fifth year in a row it has dropped.

The other vaccines that saw falls include those that protect against tetanus, diphtheria and polio.

Health officials warned that children were being put at risk by the decision to shun these routine vaccinations.

We are going backwards.

People don't see the affects of these vaccines and start believing anti-vax lies are going to doom us all.

It's same nonsense I get with Comcast claiming they need a data use cap because we'll use up all the data? There is no finite amount of it but they pretend there is for the same purpose as Republicans: to screw over people who can't get or afford better.

That twitter vid of British folks guessing how much healthcare cost in the US is truly depressing, but we can't really afford to be depressed.

The retail price for my monthly medication without insurance is nearly $1000. One of those medications is an antidepressant and it by itself is $258. Let that sink in, non american hypsters. A drug that keeps me from having nervous breakdowns, crippling anxiety, and panic attacks is $258 a month. It's a drug that quiting cold Turkey can potentially cause people to become suicidal or mentally unstable. And our government would rather allow a greedy pharmaceutical company to endanger american lives for profit instead of regulating those pharmaceutical companies because regulating them would be "socialist".

Sad truth. Today there is an enormous amount research and development in healthcare. I think even if we didn't improve our scientific knowledge and tech further we still have a lot of change in the pipeline. It would take a long time to just integrate the existing coming technology. Some software development companies like EffectiveSoft Corporation provide healthcare mobile apps and digital solutions to stay ahead of the curve. Their specialists create the most effective digital solutions for Biotechnology and Healthcare fields.

Terrible shame that the ant-vaxxer's have actually been allowed to win one.

The recent failure of New Jersey lawmakers to pass a measure that would have ended all non-medical exemptions from mandatory immunizations at schools was a victory for anti-vaccination cranks — and a public-health disaster.

The success of vaccines led to the once-deadly scourge of measles being declared eliminated by international health authorities in 2000. But the recent revival of the disease is evidence of the influence of anti-vaxxers, who have sold scared parents a myth that vaccines cause autism.

Every leading medical authority has authoritatively debunked that claim. But the Internet conspiracy theory behind this movement continues to spread with the help of celebrities and faux experts like Robert F. Kennedy Jr. Thanks to their ability to persuade families to skip vaccinations, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention last year recorded the highest number of measles cases in a generation.

All this **** with this coronavirus going on that's a dumb move.

Only a matter of time before some conspiracy theory laden anti-vaxxer links the new coronavirus to vaccines somehow.

I saw a thing on Facebook the other day which pointed out the obvious that no one ever references: The cost of healthcare in this country is too high but if healthcare is nationalized or rather, normalized, the costs go down significantly. It is no longer $50,000 to get a surgery, it is $5,000 or even $500.

I am having a procedure tommorrow (nothing serious) and the cost is already over $1100 for something that should not cost half that because of insurance and greed.

I'm from the UK.

We still have private health insurance.
Some folks are covered via their employers for things like dental.

Also the NHS (UK's universal health care provider) contracts out some medical services to private health companies for a variety of reasons so it's not like people aren't going to have access to private health care providers anymore or those private companies aren't going to make money. Private health providers in the UK make cash from being government contractors which is why many of them aren't against socialized medical services in the UK.

Well there is some good news. :argh:
