Im tired of setting aside my humanity for the sake of the uneducated
They direct their anger at freeways...
It's Ralph Wiggum logic.Lol...so true
Somehow causing traffic is "making a difference"
I stopped at reparations. They will fail and will have waisted everyone's time and resources.
Once - please explain why other groups have gotten reparations but ones for African-Americans are off the table? Also reparations doesn't just mean straight money handouts.
One reason, is because the government was able to determine exactly what families, etc were put into Japanese internment camps. They did not give reparations to all Japanese Americans, only those families who had family members in those camps.
What exact historical documentation would you use?
Historical documentation to prove we descended from slaves? Really? How else do you think we got here? If I'm remembering correctly - over 80% of the African-American population in this country descended from West/Central African's that were brought over here during the slave trade.
It wouldn't be that particularly hard, especially given the fact that other Black American's that don't identify as African-American usually know (not true for everyone) where they descended and are usually native African or Afro-Caribbean.
Logistically, it's just not feasible. And it would be insanely expensive. How do you determine who gets what? You can't just cut a cheque to every black person in the US. Not to mention that slavery is hundreds of years old and to prove that you personally have suffered from it is also a logistic nightmare.
Agreeing to reparations would open the flood gates for every person who had parents, grandparents, great-grandparents, great-great-great grandparents that were mistreated in some way by the "majority."
We all descended from slaves at some point. The Irish were enslaved in the 17th century. The Scots were enslaved by the British. There were white slaves in colonial America. The Romans had white slaves. Jews were enslaved in Egypt. Whites were enslaved in Feudal Europe. That's just white people.
Tell me again why you deserve reparations.

You do realized that what underpins talking about white slavery in conversations about the transatlantic black slave trade is the white supremacist belief that white people have overcome slavery and are less whiny? How exactly are slaves in the Roman Empire relevant to a conversation on how America was founded on the backs of black slaves sixteen hundred years later? Why else would you compare the Irish to the displacement of tens of millions of Africans in the largest forced migration in the world? We all descended from slaves at some point. So many people want to ignore American history and hate BLM because they make so we can't. If you don't think there needs to be reparative justice in America than maybe you don't know what America is.
But what sort of reparative justice? Money? You know full well that will never happen. I don't know specifically what BLM is asking for, but money will not come their way, nor should it. Maybe there's something else that will ease tensions.
If you read their plan that was posted earlier on this page you would see at no point under the reparations section did they ever explicitly say that outright want cold, hard cash. Some of the things outlined under the Reparations sections:
- Open access to free public university and college education
- Open access to K-12, higher education, technical education or educational support to incarcerated individuals
- Student loan forgiveness
- Increased federal funding to HBCU's
- Providing a Universal Basic Income
- Demand a thorough and accurate public education curriculum on Black History, including not only slavery and civil rights, but also contributions of African and African American heritage at the local, national and global level.
- Funding for cultural assets and sacred sites such as Black burial grounds; Black towns (e.g. Mound Bayou, Mississippi);
Those are just a few I picked out and each section goes into how, legislatively, those things could be achieved. No where in that proposal does it state reparations = just giving people money.
Is the colour of your skin the reason you have to scrounge? So, do I get in on that free access to college and student loan forgiveness, or, even though I'm scrounging by by the skin of my teeth paycheck to paycheck, am I automatically classified as already being "privileged"?
