Exactly. You can't have Steve Bannon, Stephen Miller, and Sebastian Gorka in your inner cirlce and be a "scapegoat".

not to mention sessions and lets not forget dude was sued in federal court for racial discrimination

All of whom probably grew up idolizing key figures of the Third Reich as children.....or were in past lives, those men themselves.

Sometimes, you just have to love irony. Charlottsville was organized to protest the removal of Confederate statues, in theory. Now, it seems to have accelerated plans to remove Confederate memorials in other cities.

Worth noting that a part of these monuments and flags being taken down throughout the South was a reaction to the Charleston church shooting. People had been trying to get those thing taken down for DECADES with very little progress. The Charleston shooting was a wake up call for some people and this incident will be too.

It's getting harder and harder for people to lie with a straight face and say those flags and monuments are just about southern pride, especially now that it's being so directly linked to the Nazi flag and people that aren't even from the south are using it.

I was actually surprised the white supremacists didn't figure that would happen. These people are essentially trying to argue that they aren't racist by being blatantly racist.

Yeah, I remember that was the first big wave of anti-confederacy movement. But now those plans are likely to get accelerated even more.

Wait Stephen Miller is a Jew hating Jew?

There are self-hating blacks and even self-hating whites. There are white people who feel guilty for being so "privileged" or some nonsense.

What makes you think Stephen Miller hates Jews? Because of the Emma Lazarus quote?

I didn't say I thought he was. I was just asking.

your counter argument is I don't accept the definition of systemic racism then you go on to say that subsystems of racism exist. :whatever: as if that makes a difference to the people who have to deal with it. I also explained there isn't one thing or way that constitutes a benefit.

People have to deal with the evil of other people all the time, whether it's propagated individually or through organizations. It's naive to say, for instance, that if George Zimmerman is acquitted for a charge of murder-- a charge that could not be proven from the evidence-- that this or any other single thing proves that Racism is Systemic in America. You're claiming that the acts of whites against blacks are systemic no matter the individual circumstances, but that the acts of blacks against whites are non-systemic. This is called "special pleading."

The reason you're keeping your definition of "benefit" fuzzy is so that it can include anything you dislike, even if it confers no direct benefit on any single white person. To use your "black-ish" example, what specific benefit does any white person get from the situation of a black guy avoiding contact with a little white girl because he's afraid of being lynched?

I never understood the obsession rednecks have with the Confederate flag. It's a war they lost. Some of them hang on to that flag like it's a winning lottery ticket. And not to stereotype but everyone I've personally met who's obsessed with that flag tended to have racist tendencies. Not saying they are racist because some of them really do have a best friend that is black but it's true.

It is because we all know what that flag really means. But they play it off as family heritage, even as that heritage is awful.

That's what I'm saying. But some of them REALLY believe that it's not about that. Have you ever been down south to a hick town and see how they darn near bow down and worship that flag? Real talk, some of them would literally kill if you insulted that flag.

Yeah, a heritage of seceding from the country because they wanted to own people as property. Who wouldn't be proud of that?

I hope that more white supremacy is exposed and confronted in this country. I'm sick of constantly saying that everything is really okay and the bigots out there are only the super-fringe. No they're not. They're working along side you, they're going to college, they're teaching high school and college, they're pastors, they're garage owners, they're postal workers, it's not one super-small subset of "losers".

I keep saying that. Everyone is all bold and saying "yeah I hate Trump" blah, blah, blah.......but you'd be surprised at how many people are voting for him DL. Again, I don't think Trump is racist, I actually see a lot of his views and agree with him. But he's riding a wave of racism that has been coming up slowly but surely.

No they don't. Its their excuse to use it. Just like Trump and his very selective use of words. The heritage is of treasonous, racist, awful human beings who made a choice to be just that. And that is what these people choose to support.

Piggybacking.

Tearing down statues is nice and cathartic but we lost Iraq not on the tearing stuff down. it was the hearts and minds.

White Supremacist have always been good at hiding among the crowd and making their ideas seem feel rational. "It's not your fault you didn't get the job, it's affirmative action against you! You deserved it and it was taken from you!" and people will vote for the guy who the supremacist want to make policy and elect judges.

Protesters in my home town (Durham, NC) toppled a Confederate statue in response to the Charlottesville violence

While it's cathartic and all, I wish it had been taken down legally with the crowd cheering on. This is going to give the neo-Nazis and white supremacist groups more fuel to paint them as 'fascists.'

Destroying property is how we got this country started. At least this is our own.

There will be retaliation though.

I wouldn't be surprised if you start to see a rise in extremist rednecks who die for the cause. Just like extreme Muslims blow themselves up, don't be surprised if it reverses.

Wasn't this what Dylan Roof wanted by shooting up that church.
