No sir, I never read it. I vaguely remember watching the live action 90s version.

It's a more dark and sinister in tone than the Disney animated movie and of course the characterizations were super different.

Also unlike the movie, due to its episodic format, Mowgli often went back and forth between the village and the jungle

It was coming out in 2017 anyway. They moved it further back to 2018.

i think one of the reason why they moved is because they will do a rewritte and change some parts.

WB going full dark on every movie will be changed............after BvS

Last thing I want is for them to shy away from making this take Kipling-faithful like it's supposed to be.

I want them both to be different and good so I can do a fun blog comparing the two after they both come out.

WOW at the rave reviews for this movie. 100% at RT. This further my prediction that this is our 2017 Visual Effects winner at the Oscars.

And intelligence. This movie was always gonna be fresh on audiences minds when that one came out next year - that was inevitable. And if this film were poorly received, that wouldn't be a problem for them, because then it would be like, "now for the GOOD Jungle Book!" But now that it's clear this will be very well-received, putting some distance between them was really the only logical option for them.

Well yeah, but my standards for studio "intelligence" dropped below rock bottom after the Sony leaks.

It's WB, so I just assume it's costing way more than it needed to.

My guess? This is their reaction to their own internal tracking #s which confirm the obvious. Disney's version is going to be a monster hit across the board, and see the wisdom in giving theirs further distance.

We caught it again last night, this time at a public screening, and it was so overbooked they started a half-hour late. It was that full.

Yeah, they are saying Favs reset the bar as far as CG goes. Mostly due to how the entire thing was shot on an L.A. soundstage.

Really did not expect this to be that good from the trailers. Now I still might not like it, but I'm eating crow in terms of public perception.

Saw this a few hours ago and just like last year's Cinderella, it didn't disappoint because it was amazing! I really hope Disney continues this trend like I still want them to redo Alice in Wonderland and Sleeping Beauty because I hated those films.

The visuals are just so pretty and colorful, it looked really good! At first, seeing the animals talk was kinda odd especially with the wolves but I got used to it. The story is simple but I liked that it wasn't too drastic compare to the Disney animated film (which I also liked) though I would have loved to see the talking Vultures. I also prefer the ending of this one, compare to the animated film (which I haven't seen it like 3 years I think). The kid was also really good!

Seen it. Amazing. Emotional. Suspensful. Disney really cannot make a screw up lately. On track with all the genres.

Only thin I never understood is where are the Lions? Why is everyone afraid of a tiger?
