Seen it. Amazing. Emotional. Suspensful. Disney really cannot make a screw up lately. On track with all the genres.

Only thin I never understood is where are the Lions? Why is everyone afraid of a tiger?
Are there lions in India?

Huh, well learn something new everyday I guess. :D

How much do we wanna bet that Andy Serkis' Jungle Book movie never gets made because of this version?

Well, this one is apparently the bar to beat, so he may tweak it just enough to be even mroe impressive, who knows.

It's already been shot. They just moved it from a 2017 release to 2018.

Well then the Serkis JB needs to be exceptional if it wants to follow the Disney one, otherwise it's gonna flop. Audiences won't want to go see a lesser version of the same story that just came out (2 years isn't enough of a gap). This will be even worse for WB if Disney decides their version needs sequels.

From what I understand, the Serkis version is going to be based more on the book.

I'm not sure if general audiences will give a **** if Disney's Jungle Book is a huge success. They'll just be confused at the sight of another Jungle Book movie. Much like how last year's pretty damn good Steve Jobs movie that followed the Ashton Kutcher one was a flop.

The Serkis version will be for adults, not kids. It will be dark and edgy.

You don't think it'll be geared towards families? Ain't no bunch of adults gonna go see something with talking animals.

Yeah, an adult-oriented Jungle Book sounds like something that could be interesting, but might not play well with general audiences. I'm honestly just shocked this Serkis Jungle Book project came as far as it did in the face of this huge blockbuster Disney version.

Jungle Book is in the public domain. Anyone can make a movie/TV version of it. You could decide to do one and WB/Disney would be powerless to stop you. Just as long as you're not ripping their versions off and you stick to the original source.

Yes, obviously everyone has the legal right to use this property if its in the public domain. I'm talking about how I think WB making their own version right after Disney might be a huge financial mistake, because audiences might not be up for it. Nothing to do with legal issues or getting sued and whatnot.

An adult Jungle Book just isn't right in the grand scheme of things. It's just been known as something family friendly and especially two years after and given how good this supposedly is, it's just going to confuse audiences.

I mean I could be totally wrong and Serkis delivers something that can move past the Disney version and blow everyone's socks off - but that's what it would have to take to do it. It's an uphill battle and perhaps unnecessary risk for WB, especially if this Disney version turns out to be fantastic like early reviews are indicating. If WB announces in a few weeks that their JB is canceled (and the announcement that it's been "delayed" smells like prep for a big breakup to me), then just know I called it. :oldrazz:

Trying to figure out who did Louie's voice was legit driving me nuts. Walken popped up in my head after a while, but there was something that rung un-Walken-y there. It goes to show I haven't heard enough of Twilight Years Walken. To my credit I figured out ScarJo did Kaa all by myself, I'll have my cookie now.

I just watched an exclusive clip they released where Mowgli meets Kaa. This movie looks amazing.

EDIT: Crap, ninja'd.

They're not wasting any time getting a sequel underway....

Does it warrant a sequel? Was there more to the story in Kipling's novel?

Oh man. At this point I just feel bad for Serkis, because I'm sure he poured his heart into his version. I thought we would at least have to wait until after opening weekend to get sequel news.

I absolutely can't wait to see this. It looks utterly phenomenal.

Remember when Justin Marks wrote the Chun-Li film? Interesting how he was able to turn his career around after that.
