Good movie, many of the voice cast was hit (Walken, Elba, Murray, Kingsley) and some were miss (Nyongo, Johansson). For a first timer the kid (Sethi) did well but there were moments when line delievery just wasn't quite right. The Jungle was beautiful and the animals looked damn realistic. I loved the use of music from the score and songs of the original animated movie which is a favorite that I still watch at least once a year. Overall I was pleased with it, especially watching it in 3D.

I'm going to see this in a couple of hours. Can't wait. Feedback on it has been amazing.

Global estimate in: $291 million WW OW. $1 billion WW final definitely in play.

Leaving to check this out in about 15 mins!

Saw it yesterday. Loved it. This is Favreus best film. He seems to be getting better with each film. Had some very noisy kids at my showing. Don't bring your children if they can't control themselves for 2 hours.

Saw it last night, I enjoyed it, didn't love it. I think a lot had to do with it being spectacular in 3D. I wonder if I saw it in 2D instead of 3D, would I have been less impressed. Not sure if I want to rewatch at home.

I think what makes it work is even though they kinda had to maintain the Disney-ness of the 67 flick, it looks exactly how you would entail Kipling's book brought to life.

Cowboys and Aliens is probably his only duffer. I blame Orci & Kurtzman for that though.

Iron Man 2 was kind meh as well...

but other than those two misfires...Jon has produced a wide variety of films across genres. Chef IMO is criminally underrated.

Yeah it can get annoying. I get that it's a kids movie but a few ruin it for the rest. There was a kid behind me that couldn't stop moving around and talking, kept kicking my seat and his mom actually gave him her phone blaring some video to keep him quiet.

Basically if the kid is like under 5, they're not even comprehending what's going on.

Parents should learn when to exit the cinema if their children start running the movie experience for other people.

Just got back and I can't stop saying, "wow!" The film is absolutely gorgeous (definitely worth the 3D up charge), the voice acting superb and the story and pacing tight. Special shout-out for Bill Murray's Baloo, it's the best work he's done in ages. Even the credits are great! There were one or two places where the cgi wasn't perfect but they were fleeting. The kid Neel Sethi does as good a job as the reviews say. Incredible really given that he's acting against a green screen most of the movie. 4/4 stars.

Just back from seeing it. Fantastic movie. Visually beautiful. There is some gorgeous imagery, the jungle has never looked better. The talking animals were brought to life perfectly. It really felt like I was looking at talking wolves, bears, tigers etc. Voice acting was spot on, especially with Baloo, Bagheera, King Louis and Shere Kahn. The kid who played Mowgli did a terrific job. He was so likeable. Had some great emotional moments.

Loved the musical numbers, especially bare necessities. Stick around for the end credits to hear Kaa's 'Trust in me' song.

10/10. Probably Favreau's best movie.

I love Favreau but this just wasn't my movie. I unquestionably prefer IM to Jungle Book. While it wasn't bad by any stretch of the imagination, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I can recognize all of the ways that it succeeded on a technical/story-telling level, but I never found it very compelling.
I might have gone in expecting more based on the hype. Upon leaving the theater I told my girlfriend how it was receiving rave reviews and she's convinced Disney pays off movie critics. She'd fit right into the BvS section.

It happens. I felt the same way about Winter Soldier. Just didn't click for me, though it's obviously an excellent film.

Totally agree. This is his masterpiece.

It's far and a way not his best film. It's a solid film, but not better than Iron Man or even Chef.

It could've used some re-drafting and polishing. And some singing voices to double for Neel Sethi and Christopher Walken.

Oh, almost forgot. Best in-joke in the movie:

Right before Mowgli meets King Louis (Christopher Walken) he picks up and briefly examines a cowbell.

Different strokes, dude.

Took family to see The Jungle Book today, and I believe this is Jon Faverau's finest movie yet, even better than IM1. The visual effects are spectacular, and the animals are lifelike and very believable, but the best part of the movie is that it makes you care for all its characters. When you start having the feels for CGI animals, you know that it has done its job and did it well. It's a movie that will be remembered for a long time, and it can stand next to the animation classic that inspired it. If I were WB, I'd cancel the Jungle Book they're going to release next year because I seriously doubt they can come anywhere near this movie's quality and accolades.

I did like the scene where after Shere Khan is talking about the cuckoo bird's ploy of leaving its eggs in another bird's nest, the scene fades into the new one and we see this tiny bird feeding this big ass cuckoo chick.

Saw it this morning and really enjoyed it, more so than the 1967 animated one which I never particularly cared for as a kid. It is pretty incredible that they made the entire movie on sets in LA.

I think WB is kind of screwed now. Disney absolutely nailed this one and are already moving forward on a sequel. WB's Jungle Book doesn't come out until Oct 2018 but will inevitably be compared to this one. I get that they're going to be using Kipling's work alone so it will be different but are audiences going to want that? It makes me sad because I want Serkis to succeed but I think this will be an uphill struggle (not to mention I have no faith in WB).
