I wonder if they'll bring back Mirage since Elizabeth Pena passed away. I'm actually really going to miss Jason Lee as Syndrome too. He was my favorite character from the first film, with Frozone a close second. I wouldn't complain if they were to bring him back in some way.

Brad Bird wanted a friend of Elastic Girl's to die in the first movie (a pilot who was gonna fly her to Syndrome's island, he was gonna die when it got shot down) because he wanted a price to be paid for one of the heroes, but devoting the right amount of screen time to a character created just to die slowed the movie down so he cut the character and had Helen fly herself to the island instead.

I wonder if Bird will revisit that notion and kill off Frozone in the sequel.

I thought that the whole scene of Bob going through Syndrome's computer and seeing all of the heroes that had been killed off (and his reactions to it) was pretty effective. But perhaps having a character who we spent some time with and got to know (as opposed to a bunch of offscreen characters getting killed offscreen) would have been more effective still. BUT NOT EDNA, they kill off Edna and I'll be really angry.

Well their track record is mixed on that. They didn't bring back Doc Hudson in Cars 2 since Paul Newman had died, yet they did bring back Fillmore in Cars 2, and Slinky Dog in Toy Story 3, despite the fact that their original VA's had also died. They just recast the roles.

I wonder if they'll continue straight on with the battle against the underminer? It's weird to think a lot of the kids who watched the original are probably grown up now so the characters might have to be reintroduced

^ For all we know, ten years has passed in movie time, too... and the kids are all grown up.The older two, anyway.

I think the film is going to take place years after the original. Funny to think of the underminer, since many people are probably expecting to see a continuation of that story.

It's CGI animation so I don't know if it needs to take place "in real time".

I think he means the teen years of dash and violet

I rather have a prequel with all those Great super heroes in the past.

Dash and Violet are cool but I rather see those other supers that was briefly shown on the original film.

One of the things the original was so admired for was taking on some mature issues in a kid friendly way (like mid life crises). It might be fun to see an incredible sequel which deals with all the kids having grown up and drifted apart and they have to get in touch with each other while fighting bad guys etc

I don't know if it will be ten years, but time will have passed. We might even have grandkids. Maybe a superhero renaissance.

So, can Bird confidently say The Incredibles 2 is his next project?

“Yeah it feels like it to me, yeah.”

Damn he won't be making a Star Wars film any time soon. :(

They're are plenty of other talented director's for that. If we FINALLY get this movie, then it'll be worth it.

I'd rather him work on an animated film for once instead of live action. I enjoyed MI:GP and i'm sure Tomorrowland is going to be great but I want to see him back to what he does best. Iron Giant and The Incredibles were amazing films.
