This totally snuck up on me. I had no idea it came out yesterday. May have an outside chance of catching it Sunday, but more likely Tuesday. Glad to see it's being so well received.

I loved the movie, even though the twist was predictable.

The Jack Jack/Racoon thing was fine, if a little slap-sticky. It didn't bother me.
I found it more then fine. I adored it. I like how they made it work in context.

FRIDAY AM UPDATE: Disney and Pixar's Incredibles 2 launched with a massive $18.5 million from Thursday previews. Not only is this the largest preview gross ever for an animated feature, it more than doubles the previous record set by Finding Dory with $9.2 million. In fact, it's more than the preview grosses for the likes of Beauty and the Beast ($16.3m), Spider-Man: Homecoming ($15.4m), Thor: Ragnarok ($14.5m) and Justice League ($13m). At this point Finding Dory's $135 million record opening for an animated title would appear to be an afterthought as it's now merely a question of just how high will Incredibles 2 fly?

Glad to hear it. Pixar rarely lets me down. Even that good dinosaur flick was better than the other cg dreck out that year.

Cars 2 is their only mortal sin imo. I actually quite like Cars 3, to my own surprise.

Yeah, Cars 2 is the biggest misfire. It sounded good on paper but it just didn't work.

I have yet to see either Cars 2 or 3.

Cars 3 was surprisingly decent. Unlike the second one, it actually had substance.

Anyway, can't wait to see this. :woot:

I agree with this. The Good Dinosaur was mediocre, but it still got me in the feels. Cars 2 was just terrible and a chore to get through. Cars 3 on the other hand wasn't bad, it reminded me of a few of the Rocky sequels. It was a big step up from Cars 2, and a big reason for that was because they greatly reduced Larry the Cable Guy's role. I'd rather see a Jar Jar Binks movie than have to endure any more Mater. :o

Just got back and loved it. Definitely seeing it again.

Jack Jack turning into
a mini version of Edna and their whole dynamic was hilarious.

I just watched The Good Dinosaur and out of the Pixar films I've seen so far it's definitely one of the worst. There are quite a few I haven't seen or watched in a while though.

Incredibles 2 might be my favorite Pixar movie to date though

Saw it last night, really liked it. While it didn't match or surpass the original for me, it was still really good and tons of fun. There were a surprising number of references to DC characters—mostly Batman, but others as well—that was unexpected for a Pixar/Disney movie, because Disney owns Marvel, but fit in well nonetheless.

Jack-Jack was a total scene-stealer, and although Screenslaver as a villain wasn't the greatest, it wasn't terrible either. There was one scene that I bet most people missed when
Elastigirl was sneaking into Screenslaver's apartment and Screenslaver was on the other side of the door waiting for her to open it
—now that was almost scary.

And OMG at the ending action set-piece. Even if [blackout]they weren't technically villains[/blackout], it was still gratifying to see multiple superheroes do battle against multiple bad guys on the big screen, and then it got crazier (and funnier) when [blackout]Jack-Jack got into the fight as well[/blackout]. And some of the new "supers" that got introduced were awesome too, like [blackout]the girl with the portal powers—it was way too obvious that whoever came up with her powers played Valve's Portal game, because her powers acted the exact same way as the portal gun[/blackout].

Can't wait to see it again! Btw, I saw it in 3D but the 3D wasn't very impressive. Maybe worth watching for those who usually watch movies in 3D, otherwise I'd suggest sticking to the 2D. And the opening short was cute I guess, but it was also a bit disturbing, and not exactly one of the better shorts that Pixar has done. Pixar needs to step up with the quality of the shorts, I think the last one that I really liked was the one with Big Hero 6 called Feast.

It’s solid, entertaining, and it’s nice to see the characters again. The voice actors slip into their old roles well but bring a bit of new dimension to them as well. It’s definitely a bit of a rehash and they don’t really go out on a limb much with the characters, though some of the roles are reversed a bit, and that makes for an interesting dynamic at times.

Jack Jack easily steals the show, and the sequence with the raccoon is indeed hilarious but ultimately pointless.

Edna's portion is minimal, but fairly amusing, and the twist on a staple of child care is pretty clever.

The weak point is definitely the plot, or at least parts of it. You can kind of tell it’s a couple different concepts they had for the sequel sort of mashed together. There’s nothing terribly unique about the villain or their message. Though it's relevant to superheroes and those with power, you’ve seen it before, and you see it coming a long way away.

I thought a lot of the themes were kind of just paid lip service compared to the storytelling of the previous film, and the movie lacks some of its predecessor’s tension in favor of…melodrama and scaled up action. The family unit and the plot’s impact on them sort of gets lost about halfway through the film.

Frozone is just kind of there, and mostly for punchlines, which is kind of disappointing, though they do showcase his powers well.

The action in general is fairly creative, especially for Elastigirl. I was surprised at how violent this movie was, actually. A lot of fairly violent combat, guns, etc. I don't remember the previous one going for the jugular the way this one does. They don't pull many punches.

It doesn’t quite have the retro charm of the first film. I think that’s intentional, to a point…it’s still sort of retro in its design, but it’s clearly set in a more modern world thematically. Probably need another viewing to let it all sink in.

I’m not really expecting this to surpass the original. If it can get anywhere close that will be great.

Yeah, the 'villainy-plot' thing that Brad Bird talked about being the most difficult thing to come up with is clearly the weak link. Anytime the movie focused on the family dynamics, the film worked like a charm for me. Almost on par with the first one but with new, fun twists. You can clearly see this is the stuff he had on his mind all this 14 years. It's all well thought.
When the plot shifted to Elastigirl's side of things (except for the action sequences) the movie dragged a lot for me. Not because of Elastigirl herself but the new characters didn't click with me.

The villain definitely doesn't stack up to the first film's, but I feel like Screenslaver fit the story pretty perfectly. Ra's in Batman Begins, more then the Joker in TDK, if that makes sense.

The villain is definitely interesting... [BLACKOUT]up to when the identity is revealed.[/BLACKOUT]

Speaking of villains, I was a little surprised that [BLACKOUT]the Underminer got away since that was THE cliffhanger from the first one, but I guess they kept that an open end because it gives them an easy way to bring their good luck charm John Ratzenberger back for the third one.[/BLACKOUT]

That Thursday preview number is Incredible. WoM seems great too.

I can see Pixar wins the summer over MCU again like in 2016 (coincidentally also with a long-awaited sequel).

On a side note. I'm worried about Toy Story 4, people. I need to hug someone.

Based on what, box office? No chance, either worldwide or domestic. Incredibles 2 will make bank, but it's not gonna catch up to Infinity War domestically and it's certainly not gonna hit $2 billion. It's also a blatantly different comparison since Civil War made more than $200 million less than Infinity War did domestically, which made it an easier obstacle for Finding Dory to pass. And there's still Ant-Man and the Wasp on the way, which won't make as much as either Infinity War or Incredibles 2 but it still counts as MCU.

Oh I just mean being the film with highest domestic gross of the summer (since I can only predict domestic gross), not actually combine all MCU movies of the summer. How much do you think this will make? I’m thinking something like 210M/ 660M (about 10% shorter leg than Dory, both internal and overall).
