Disney Reviving 'Chip 'n Dale' for a Live-Action Feature

Oh, my!
That's my first thought.

Will they look like their animated self or be realistic cgi animals (like the new Jungle Book, Lion King etc)?

It's not interesting enough that it's Rescue Rangers. It should have been the REAL Chip'n Dale. From the old short films.

I wonder when we are going to get a live action Pluto?
Mickey Mouse? Goofy? Donald Duck?
Neither can be that far beyond the horizon.

Probably an Alvin and the chipmunks deal.

I'm skeptical, have a live-action/CG-cartoon hybrid ever really worked that well?

I feel like it's a weird mix and a hard balance with how realistic you make the CG. With hand-drawn animation like in Roger Rabbit, the contrast becomes so clear and that's what brings the cool and magical feel. With CG-cartoon animation it often feels off in an uncanny kind of way for me.

Either going full-on CG or having the CG be in live-action style would have had me more excited.
Sonic worked.

I am so iffy on this.. I would rather this not work the way Sonic worked. Could this maybe work like the Lego Movie or something?

John Mulaney and Andy Samberg will play Chip and Dale.

and Seth Rogen probably Monterey Jack

I remember enjoying the cartoon and the Nintendo game when I was younger, but as soon as I saw this my first thought was,"Oh boy. Here we go with more live action remakes." Over the last 10-15 years I think almost everything under the sun has been remade,so I should be used to it by now,but everything one is announced I can't help by roll my eyes.

Controversial opinion but I’m getting a bit sick of when they add a woman character and she’s described as “feisty and over energenic”. It’s definitely a great idea to add more women characters but I’m starting to notice a trope appearing with all the new woman characters acting and sounding the same

That's literally Gadget's role.

Are they adding a new female character?

A bit of a surprise there because neither are known for being "family friendly" although Samberg does have a three year old daughter and he may want to do some things she'll want to watch while still a child.

Mulaney was Spider-Ham in Into the Spider-Verse and Samberg was in the Hotel Transylvania movies, so they aren't completely new to family friendly material.

To be honest, Into the Spider-Verse was so good, I didn't even notice that Mulaney voiced Spider-Ham. Never seen the Hotel Transylvania movies.

As for Seth Rogen in this film, I think this is the second family friendly film he's done as he was in the Lion King.

Rogen's in this too? I know he was in a few Dreamworks movies back in the day like Monsters vs. Aliens and Kung Fu Panda.

They mentioned him alongside Samberg and Mulaney.

Hopefully he's Professor Nimnul and not Monterey Jack or some ****. Just get an actual aussie.

Monterey Jack was an Aussie?
I remember him meeting Chip & Dale on a ship for the first time, but didn’t knew about his Australian roots (I remember his Dad looking like Crocodile Dundee, though)

As for Samberg - no surprise here, since they announced Akiva Schaeffer and Jorma Taccone are helming this project. Hope they’ll get a little Lonely Island humor into this

Both have done voice work. Mulaney was Spider-Ham and Samberg in the Hotel Transylvania series. I wonder if they are going to digitally alter their voices like they did for Alvin and the Chipmunks. I also hope Samberg doesn’t play him exactly like his HT character, even if both share the same traits of being the dumb one.

Mulaney, Samberg and the Lonely Island crew definitely have me more interested in this than I would be otherwise. Modern cartoon/live-action mash-ups have a pretty awful track record though, so my optimism is VERY cautious.

Ugh 2 comedians I don't care for at all involved in one my favorite childhood properties.
