Disney sets Rob Marshall to adapt "Into the Woods"

Well it certainly looks like the current Disney revisionist movies. I shouldn't be surprised. Looks nice.

Oh, Anna Kendrick...what I would do if only.

Um...isn't Milky White supposed to be a pure white cow?

So excited for the first trailer! I hope it comes out today. If not, I want to see it in front of GOTG this Friday.

Bit bummed no singing in trailer, but the music gave me chills. I admit, I can't wait and am really REALLY excited for this :woot: I've loved Into the Woods for a very long time

Not sure why I'm a bit underwhelmed. It's like it didn't live up to those photos from yesterday.

I liked the trailer, maybe a little more because of the music.

Wasn't Jake Gyllenhaal supposed to be in this?

Yes, I believe he was originally going to be Rapunzel's Prince, but last July bowed out because it conflicted with another project he was doing.

Good trailer but…this is a musical. It would have been nice to get something singing wise.

:csad:

And as much as I like how they didn't show Depp's face, in another sense it's kind of comedic that you could say that he's had so many box office flops that when he's credited they have to hide his face now. :funny:

I just want a good fantasy musical... when was the last great one?

Fantasy? Hm, not sure. Has there every really been a fantasy live action musical?

Enchanted?

Watched the trailer a bit more and it's grown on me. Stay With Me sounds incredible.

Hopefully they won't have the problem they did with Sweeney Todd, whose trailer also didn't show anybody singing. As a result many people walked out of the movie when they went to see it because they had no idea it was a musical.

I think concealing the musical elements is going to backfire on Disney, if their next trailer doesn't show it. You want to make sure the Sondheim fans will want to see it, as well as parents and their children.

Depp was hired so that he can put on white paint, fake fur and a hat ?

Yeah it did. Look, right smack dab in the middle of the trailer is Depp singing.

Yeah, if anyone walked into Sweeney Todd not expecting a musical, they have no one to blame but their own dumb asses.

Disney's last fantasy flick (even if not a musical) Maleficent got a very mixed reception and
god damn Maleficent didn't even turn into a dragon!

Fantasy, in theory, should be an excellent genre for a musical because they both are rather fantastical by nature (sorry for the pun). That's why I think there not only would but should be some genuine synergy to be found there. :)

I'm finding it VERY difficult to contain my excitement at this point, despite reasons for trepidation. I just love this musical so much, and seeing these scenes with that music just gave me chills. *crossing fingers for the best*
