So I'm guessing Disney+ will have some new Star Wars related project dropping on May the 4th from now on. Cool.

Speaking of, I was watching the Mark Hamill episode of The Muppet Show (which I hadn't seen in nearly 20 years) and came across this moment of foreshadowing where both the Star Wars cast and the Muppets sing the theme song of their future corporate masters. :o

My god, the synergy readings are off the charts. Someone call Bob Chapek, if there's anything his tenure in charge of the theme parks can prove - it's that synergy is his favourite word.

That song has a soft spot in my heart somehow. :hrt:
I wish I could the Muppet Show finally again, I loved it as kid. Sigh.

I put The Winter Soldier on earlier and when it started I noticed that there was a warning in the corner that says "Contains product placement".

As if the very existence of Disney as we know it today isn't based around product placement. :o

Good point, but I'm guessing that disclaimer might be due to internet streaming laws regarding advertising or product placements in your content. Like YouTube videos have to be upfront if they are doing a paid advertisement or product placement in their videos.

But but but Gina Carano! People said they were gonna cancel it!

Braw I’m all over that the original Clone Wars series. I honestly haven’t watched since back when it was on Cartoon Network. So I’m excited for that one.

I think by the time the Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special is released, they'll just have to release it for reference sake.

I use to think it was a matter of time. Now I wonder if George might not have wanted it released, and thus we might never see it on there.

I believe he went on record a long time ago saying that if he could destroy every copy of it in existence, he would have. Considering it's been available on YouTube for at least five years now, George has to know his crusade against the special is long lost. But he's made it clear that he's been upset with Disney so I can't see them willingly poking the bear by putting it on Disney+ without his consent.

I'm surprised the Holiday Special never officially seeing the light of day was part of the deal with Disney. It also wouldn't surprise me if the un altered version of the Original Trilogy never being release was part of the deal. Maybe I'm wrong but I would think releasing the un altered OT would be like printing money.

Fairly certain the deal still gives him final say over cuts of the six movies.

So, yeah, not coming out till he's dead.

No content! Failure! :o
The funny thing is that 2 of their main draws (Marvel and Star Wars) have still only just got started with their new original content offerings with one show each. The numbers are going to take off once there is a few years of streaming-only new work available from both with new shows hitting every month.

I don't think thats the main draw, and never has been. The Disney Vault will remain the main draw.

Which they are a part of.

I think it is hard to argue that if they didn't have the Mando or the Marvel shows, they'd be where they are at right now. I love the service, but the buzz of Disney+ definitely comes with the Star Wars/Marvel offerings. Disney know this. Why we have a good 20 coming. There wouldn't be so many in the pipeline if they weren't the draw.

I did say “2 of their main draws”. Also I would bet many would jump ship and consider cancelling if a competitor was allowed to buy the rights for Star Wars and Marvel, especially outside the US.

It's all going to the house of mouse in the end, isn't it?

Netflix are putting the effort in at least ($20B on original content this year), and HBO Max need to get their act together. They are losing a lot of subs in the time it’s taking to complete their international rollout. Amazon Prime had the advantage of having their service rolled in with a bunch of other stuff so I’ll always have it even if I don’t watch it as much as the others. Disney showed a lot of foresight to get Marvel and Star Wars on the cheap but there is plenty their rivals can be doing to compete.
