Idina Menzel & Kristen Bell on GMA

You can see the video of this joint interview about halfway down the page. I couldn't find it on Youtube so this is the only way to see it. The funniest moment in the interview is when Kristen jokingly suggested to Idina about swapping their husbands (it was before Idina split with Taye Diggs). The look on Idina's face is priceless.

I'm feeling really down now since I was going to go see Frozen tomorrow (due to February 7 no longer being available for me as I previously planned to go then) but I've caught a cold now. The last week's been rather sucky to begin with so I was hoping that going would cheer me up a bit. I'm hoping my theater will still have non-sing along showings next week.

Thanks.

Since I go during the time they won't even do 3D (which annoys the hell out of me since I want to see this and Get A Horse! in 3D since they are apparently fantastic and actually use it) when most kids are in school, there's a slight possibility they'll still have the non-sing along version.

One of my favourite parts in the movie is when Elsa creates the Snow Giant Marshmallow, the sequences with him are great!

did you catch the post credit scene with Marshmallow??

and, did you know that back when Elsa was the "evil sister," she was supposed to create an entire army of giant snowmen like Marshmallow to guard her castle?

but she loses control of them and they attack the kingdom instead. And Olaf was supposed to be the 1st snowman guard she created, but she rejects him because he was so totally nonthreating

I didn't, I'll have to remember next time. :D

I wasn't aware of any of that, I think it was better the way it is though, if you have an army of Marshmallow's then he loses his uniqueness, and I like that Olaf is a reminder for Elsa of her childhood, rather than a failed attempt at creating a guard.

I agree. I'm glad they changed the story instead of an evil Elsa who was threatening the safety of the people in her kingdom. I doubt I'd love the movie as much as I'm now if they didn't make those changes.

Btw, for those of you who are fans of both Frozen and Wicked, this is a video of Idina Menzel singing the song Defying Gravity (from Wicked) with the footages from Frozen. It's terrific, and a reminder of just how amazing Idina's singing really is:

You've deleted my post clarifying which images and gifs are from the the bootleg and DVD screener, but you didn't remove the illegal content from this forum, why?

Even though I've yet to see Frozen (don't kill me I'm planning on seeing it tomorrow) I'm totally loving this possibility of a second Disney Renaissance.

Tangled, Wreck-It-Ralph, and now Frozen to join the ranks. Lets hope that Marvel/Disney animation Big 5 or something is just as good.

That would be Big Hero 6:

Also, it was just announced the UK will be getting the sing-a-long version Feb. 7

https://***********/ian_sandwell

"As if Frozen needed more help to bring in the money at the UK box office (£35.6m), a sing-along version will be released from Feb 7th"

Frozen passes the Lion King.

http://www.thewrap.com/frozen-passes-lion-king-810-million-global-box-office/

The blockbuster has grossed $462M overseas and trails only “Finding Nemo” as Disney’s highest-grossing original animated movie ever

Disney’s animated “Frozen” continues to be a box-office avalanche, and crossed the $800 million mark at the global box office this weekend.

The 3D tale of two princess sisters added $20.2 million from abroad and another $9 million domestically, to raise its worldwide total to $810 million since opening at Thanksgiving.

That pushes “Frozen” past “The Lion King’ and makes it Disney’s second-highest non-sequel animated release ever, behind only “Finding Nemo,” and the seventh-highest of all time. It has taken in $462 million internationally and $347 million domestically after 10 weeks in release.

“Frozen” has yet to open in China (Feb. 5) and Japan (March 15), so it has a good shot to pass two other blockbusters, “The Hunger Games” ($856 million) and “The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug” ($837 million), in worldwide grosses.

“Frozen” had no openings this weekend, but followed up on its record debut in Korea by gaining 20 percent this weekend, to raise its total there to $22.6 million in 10 days.

So far, its strongest markets have been the U.K. ($57 million), Germany ($45 million) and France ($41 million).

Frozen is beasting.

With the sing-a-long release in the UK announced I decided to take a look at how it's doing there for the first time in a while. I knew it was doing good, but not that good.

I found this as part of a full weekend write up for all movies this weekend

Frozen is effectively doing all its business on Saturday and Sunday but is doing so in style.
Disney’s Oscar-nominated animation remained in fourth with a $1.8m (£1.09m), a barely noticeable drop on last week’s $1.9m (£1.15m), to sail past the £35m mark. It currently stands at $58.9m (£35.57m), that’s a running tally of almost eight times its opening weekend of $7.7m (£4.7m).
It has every chance of hitting £40m, especially as Disney announced today that a sing-along version of the film will be released in UK cinemas from Feb 7, in time for the school half term holidays.
ENTERTAINMENT
A few more numbers.

Turkey, which got Frozen last weekend had an amazing hold, dropping just 2% to 904k (just over 2m total now). It could pass 5m total, by far the biggest animated movie there this year.

South Korea just continues to amaze. It's already guaranteed to become the highest grossing animated movie there ever, and top 10 of all Hollywood movies. It's 2nd weekend increased from its first and Monday #'s are already out and it has increased 34% from last Monday.:wow:
Next weekend is a huge long weekend there and it could stay flat.
7 million admissions is all but locked now (about 56m) as it should pass 5 million next weekend, and if hold like this continue there's no predicting the ceiling. They freaking love Frozen there.

Yeah. I didn't see the post credit scene in the theaters, but I caught it on Youtube. It isn't much, but it's cute. :woot:

And I agree. I'm glad they changed the story and kept it more personal and focused between the sisters. Although, in hindsight, perhaps they could have kept the whole "prophecy" angle.

Oh, and about Olaf and Marshmallow, I thought it was neat how Elsa gave life to both, but each one channeled/represented a different emotion from Elsa.

When Elsa created Olaf during Let It Go, she was thinking of the happier childhood memories she had with Anna. That's why Olaf looks and acts so childlike - he represents innocent child Elsa. And, perhaps, his desire for Summer and warmer weather was born out of Elsa's own desire to be free of the Winter storm inside of her.

And Marshmallow was born out of Elsa's desire to be left alone. That's why he's aggressive and chases people away. But he was not evil either. just protecting his mistress.

You are a despicable human being.........:o

Hope you enjoy it tomorrow!! :woot:

I'll have to watch that video later.

but yeah, I'm so glad Elsa wasn't evil.

it's refreshing to see a "witch/sorceress" character who's not evil. And it's refreshing to see a character who's conflicted, fearful, and isolated but doesn't lash out at the world and blame everyone else ( which early Elsa was going to do ).

and it's also refreshing that the sister dynamic wasn't the typical sibling rivalry, jealousy, or bitterness ( which again, they were going for earlier ).

everything Elsa did was to protect Anna ( and her kingdom ). You could tell Elsa loved Anna dearly and so wanted to be with her. But she was afraid of hurting her again.

That's why when Anna at the party shot back at Elsa and said "What do you know about love?", you could see it on Elsa's face how much that hurt her.

also, another fun fact about Elsa.

it seems in one of the kid's book, A Sister More Like Me, it states that Elsa loves geometry!!

which probably came in handy to build that giant castle!!

That would explain the "like frozen fractals" line in Let It Go.:woot:

This movie really brings out my inner child. I haven't bought a figure from a movie since Star Wars (original run), but I'm seriously considering buying these figures, and I have absolutely no interest in the Disney Infinity game.

I'm extremely impressed with South Korea's BO. I know that they had one of their K-pop idol sang Let It Go, but it seems like Frozen really strike a chord with the Korean moviegoers. I hope China and Japan will follow suit.

ok, this just makes me go........

so I guess Elsa has parallels to Satan now..........

http://reflectionandchoice.org/2013/12/19/exploring-dantes-inferno-in-disneys-frozen/

I mean.........I guess I see the broad points.

but, there's one key difference that the author seemed to miss or chose to left out.

Elsa sacrifices her freedom and happiness ( even when she goes into exile in her Ice Castle ) because she LOVES her sister and wants to PROTECT Anna and the kingdom from her powers which she doesn't know how to control.

Yes, Elsa's finally being "selfish" and "self indulgent" but that's more about finally being free to embrace her powers and be who she is. But there's still a selfless reason behind it as she still wants to isolate herself so she doesn't hurt anyone else.

She says "Yes I'm alone but I'm alone and free."

But, she also says "Just stay away and you'll be safe from me."

I don't recall such motivation on Satan's part. I don't recall Satan exiling himself to a fiery/frozen Hell to isolate himself to protect mankind from his "darkness."

I suppose the analogy would have been more appropriate if we had got the original concept of evil Elsa..........who was more prideful and arrogant and who lashed out at her sister and the "world."

but we didn't get that Elsa.

The message ( or one of the messages ) of Frozen is to be true to yourself. to be proud and embrace your special gifts and your unique you.

When Elsa created her Ice Castle, she thought she was "free" but she wasn't totally free. That's because she still wasn't totally true to herself. Her relationship with her sister, who she loves, was still missing. Only in the end, when their relationship is repaired and Elsa finds that love in her heart does she have the confidence to control her powers and finally be her true self.

oh........and another difference........Elsa's still way hotter.........:o

Sorry, but anyone who compares Elsa with Satan has absolutely no understanding of Elsa's character and her motivations in the movie. It's an idiotic analogy.
